It really depends on what type of device they're trying to build. If they have a good supply of uranium and a centrifuge castigates that up, they could build a Hiroshima style bomb fairly easily and quickly – perhaps in weeks time. After that, it's just a question of how it would be delivered.

Converting it into a plutonium pit for a deployable nuclear warhead, would take much longer (months to a year) and require reprocessing of the fuel rods. I believe they could accomplish this surreptitiously on their own or with North Korean assistance.

I wouldn’t doubt it in the least.

That previous reply should say "if they have a centrifuge cascade set up."

Sometimes, when I post from my iPhone, the damn thing hears what it wants to hear.

If Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon already, they’re just a step away from it. We know they have the plans, based on the prosecution of the former CIA employee who leaked information on Operation Merlin to James Risen. The only question that remains is: Do they have fissile material? If they don’t already, they soon will. There’s no way to monitor any uranium from these ‘new’ mines. It can always be sent to NK for reprocessing. Oddly enough, the Norks have recently stepped up activities at Yongbyong. Something is afoot.

They’ve had a centrifuge cascade set up for some time now.

At one point Stuxnet disrupted their enrichment process by sending their centrifuges spinning out of control but they won’t allow that trick again.

What an amazing coinkidink!

Thank you to the greatest terrorist on the planet, who makes Osama bin Ladin seem like he was choir boy, Obama, and all his enablers in the Republican and Democrat parties.

That’s ok. I didn’t understand either one lol.

Too many smart people on this board makes me look bad!

But I learn alot here every day :)

Learned that USSR and China went at it in the ‘60s yesterday.

Also found out suitcase bombs really existed.

Great website.

But the several weeks for a Hiroshima type bomb, how hard is that to smuggle and detonate?

I know, but I was speaking of a set specifically dedicated to processing this ‘lucky find’ uranium.

The Hiroshima bomb was the gun barrel design. It was a lock to function, so it was never tested. Problem was, it was heavy and bulky for the aircraft of its time. Now, something like that can be integrated into a moderately sized vehicle - ship, plane, truck.

Warren Buffet said its when not if a nuke goes off in NYC. I live here.

I hope he was REALLY wrong!!

Is it a difficult thing to make one, get it here, smuggle it in and detonate it?

wonder why they haven’t tried already.

Is it the fear of any country connected to said terrorists would fail to exist afterwords? or am i completely wrong on that point

I'd like to think it's really difficult, but there's always weak points in surveillance and intel. Iran has, in the past, practiced launching SCUD variants from platforms in the Caspian. Some have surmised that's preparation for a launch from a modified marine platform. They would only need a short range missile and use something like a freighter in international waters. The time to target would be extremely short.

Hard to say if a nuke attack would result in the total annihilation of the aggressor. I'd like to think so - and I believe the public would demand it. However, we know this CiC is weak and have no idea who replaces him at this point. Scariest thing about this current Iran regime is their status as Twelvers. They believe the world must be washed in blood to hasten the Mahdi's return. The destruction and death resulting from their actions is, in their twisted view, foreseen and necessary.

This is like a bad dream I can’t wake from. Why would Mr. Obama want to endanger the world so? He must be of their faith and desiring the end of the world too. What else could explain his desire to arm the suicide cult with doomsday weapons?
