"The combination of monarchy and democracy helps a country be free and secure at the same time," Moore claims, citing four of Elizabeth's realms (Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) and four others (the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway). LOL!
'Free and secure'! HAHAHAHA! That's a good one.
Thanks, I needed a good laugh today.

Pretty much the only thing the royal family does is the same thing C and D list celebrities here do. Grocery store openings and shallow junk like that. Attention is always on the top half dozen (who get to cut the ribbons on cool things like the Millennium Wheel) but there’s hundreds of them mostly just getting small stipends and hoping for a phonecall from that pub that’s renovating down the street.

My daughter had a layover at Heathrow the day of the anniversary. She thought it cool to be in London that day.

King Arthur: I am your king.
Woman: Well, I didn’t vote for you.
King Arthur: You don’t vote for kings.
Woman: Well how’d you become king then?
[Angelic music plays... ]
King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.
Dennis: [interrupting] Listen, strange women lyin’ in ponds distributin’ swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

The queen’s success has been in large part due to her and her nation’s Christian heritage. When her son was married, they bowed a knee not to the Archbishop of Canterbury, but to God. They recognize a higher authority. The reigning monarch here in the US does no such thing, unless you count Satan as a higher authority.

The bible says you should honor the king. Every Christian must be monarchist on some level.

WB, so I could be a Prince. For England, James.
Monarchy is stupid unless the monarch has real power. Iraq and Iran could do with a return to monarchy, the last time either country was competently governed.

However, King Obama will be free... in 18 or so months--

So your take is that Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway are NOT free and secure?
The sure seem that way to me.
How free and secure is a country in which 5 unelected lawyers create major legislation....and are legally and politically accountable to no one?
