When the Jewish people were freed from slavery in Egypt, many non-Jews tagged along because they recognized the power that freed the slaves. They were never fully accepting of divine will and brought much of the degradation of Egypt with them.
These people were the source of much pain for the Jewish nation through the centuries. At the time, they were referred to as ‘the surrounding multitude’, or in Hebrew “Erev Rav”.
The Erev Rav were always the first to want to assimilate. They are the first who make calculations based on their own selfish ends, and not for the sake of heaven or their fellow Jews, or those who would support the Jewish nation (American Christians). They also run for public office and make sure that every decision is made to separate themselves from the Jewish people.
They were more Greek than the Greeks, they were more German than the Germans.
In another generation they were called zonderkommandos.
No group is free from back stabbing traitors. Just look at Cain and Able.
The issue is simple: either HaShem is there or he is not. Either He has spoken or he has not. Either His Torah is perfect or it is not. Even a reprobate Jew should know that without Torah, Zionism is racism. For Israel exists to wrap the Torah with flesh and bone, in a context where it may live. Torah in return undergirds and enlivens Israel. They cannot live without each other. This romance has a context and that is the Land of Israel, the place where the Almighty has chosen to dwell in His Great Name. All three make up the structure of The Redemption, without which the world would have no reason to exist.
