WELCOME TO THE
(where our troops, allies
and their families can refresh themselves)
Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our
Military, our Allies, and their families.
Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen
for today's activities
It really is hard to forget that tragedy!
All I can say is that the world should be grateful
that the USA showed restraint in retaliation.
If we'd responded as we did with Japan,
today's history would be slightly different.
Love these quotes by Prez. Bush:
"The resolve of our great nation is being tested. But make no mistake:
We will show the world that we will pass this test. God Bless.
"Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.
"Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings,
but they cannot touch the foundation of America.
" These acts shatter steel,
but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve
Here's another that is not in his speech:
"Grief and tragedy and hatred are only for a time.
Goodness, remembrance and love have no end."
Grateful to txradioguy for breaking the timeline down.
The FR Canteen is always OPEN, so
Come in, sit down.
Grab a cup of joe or tasty tea.
Mingle a bit, chat with the troops
or family member.
There's always plenty of conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS in the FR Canteen.

Today (9/10) is my birthday. On that not so long ago 9/11 morning..I was in midtown Manhattan. I'd planned to go down to the South Street Seaport to meet my daughter (who'd just started working near the WTC and 3 of her college roommates...they were "taking me out" for my birthday (translation: I was picking up the check)..but it never happened. On day I will write the story of what happened to us during those next 48 hours.
On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I posted this thread:
A personal remembrance of FReeper BKO (Barbara Olson) "let us never forget..."
Some here might enjy reading ( or re-reading it)
Barbara was... simply put..a beautiful person..
((HUGS))Good morning, Beach. How’s it going?
Good morning ken5050 ((HUGS)) Happy Birthday!
and thank you for that link. I enjoyed reading it.
I hope, one day, to read about those “48 hours” of 9/11. Hope you all are over the nightmares by now.
Good morning EG ((HUGS))
Still extremely busy here.
Hope all is well out your way.
Even Florida bugs.
Never forget 9/11
Nice weather today. Not quite as hot as the last few days.
((HUGS))Good morning, LUV W. How’s it going?
Good morning! How’s W. Texas today?
Well, howdy, TX! It’s a bit cooler this morning, which is really nice after the summer we had!
How are things in Germany? :) Are the leaves turning there yet?
Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))
All is well. It’s a bit cooler, which is nice. I’ll bet it is up there, too. I’ll be heading that direction in a couple of weeks to visit kids and MIL in the OKC area.
Hope you and Bo have a fun weekend!
Germany is wonderful. Leaves are just barely beginning to turn. You can tell in the mornings now that fall is peeking around the corner.
No more morning drives to work with the top down.
Countdown to our return to the states has begun.
I’ll bet it’s beautiful! I still miss our time there!
When are y’all coming back? Are you being re-assigned? Getting out? Where will you settle?
Good morning Luvy ((HUGS))
Enjoy the cooler temps. We’re expecting some later today.
Should be boots on the ground in the States this time next year at the latest.
Army decided I’ve been in Germany long enough and they’re going to assign me to TEXAS! LOL! Ft. Hood to be more specific.
Not quite ready to get out. We’ll see how it goes once I’m back home.
Well, Ft. Hood’s not a bad deal...so maybe y’all can come to the shoot in 2017! That would be very cool!
Full retirement still has some great benefits, not the least of which is health insurance right up until you turn 65 and MediScare kicks in.
It’s not free, but it is still cheap. I pay less for a year of family coverage than many of my associates pay for a month of coverage using our corporate plan.
And if I decide to retire before 65, I will have my TriCare medical insurance. My corporate associates will only have what they can buy on the open market.
I’m not reveling in the fact that I’m set; I’m just pointing out the facts of the situation. Putting in 20 years means making some sacrifices. The benefits are earned.
No Maddi day til Tuesday comes.
Mrs SR is at Optometrist's Apt now, then later today goes on a quilting retreat til sun AM.
Charlie's keeping me company & in puppy trouble with Mrs SR.
