“As I understand law, once Sept. 17 passes is it not the case that the president will take the view that he is free to go forward, to lift sanctions, Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said, rejecting the proposal.”
What? Does the Majority Leader come with closed captioning? That’s some of the worst gobblety-gook I have ever heard put forward.
The correct way to deal with this is to declare the none-responsiveness of the WH to be in violation of the Corker Ammendment, and declare this Iran deal to be what it is — a treaty. Then vote it down.
The penalty for treason is death.
Call me surprised. Not.

I believe you are not completely correct. I believe 0 wants this treaty to ensure Iran gets nuclear weapons. When that happens no one will dare destroy ISIS. This ensures the Caliphate will exist for quite some time. The rest is icing on the cake.
It is very important that Congress always retain their Constitutional position of being the branch that initiates action. It is when they get in the position of taking away something previously granted that they give the upper hand to the executive. Case in point is their frequent unsuccessful efforts to defund some activity previously approved. The key is to not approve the unwanted activity or to refuse to fund it in the first place.
“Matt Fuller @MEPFuller
A conservative member who I talked to yesterday about Iran just tapped me on the shoulder and said, “See how you win?”
Then he winked.”

I didn't think it was possible, but it has just dawned on me that I now loathe the GOP leadership more than I hate 0bama.
It took a lot of effort on their part, but they sure have earned it.
....and treachery, cowardice, capitulation, etc.
There is no limit to how low the uniparty scum will go.
Seems that way to me. I’m sick and tired of business as usual in W., D.C.

“The plan, as it stands, now seems to be to vote on Rep. Peter Roskams resolution to delay a vote on the disapproval resolution until the president transmits all side deals related to the Iran nuclear agreement.
The House also plans to vote on a bill to prevent President Barack Obama from lifting sanctions against Iran. And finally, the House could vote on an approval resolution for the Iran deal that would fail by design, but put Democrats on the record...”
Obama’s Iran ‘deal’ will be in the courts for years thanks to the House conservatives.

Law? This President won't consider himself free to go forward?
If you're going to play games, pass a law extending sanctions, perhaps increasing them until Iran ceases financing terrorism. If they want to acknowledge that Israel has a right to exist, fine, but I'd make that a second law. Let everyone vote on it and let the President veto either or both.
A law, it's in the Constitution. Takes a majority, that should be simple enough to GOP leadership. Divide by 2, add 1. No 60% invention of the last law the GOP passed.
Not a Trump fan, but maybe he can make the proposal.
You didn’t read my comment because I totally agree with you. 0bamadingo is a ‘secret Muslim’ working for the other side. He did this to provide cover for Iran against Israel & the U.S.. No argument here.
Isn’t there some way for our House and Senate leaders to require that prior to voting, every Congressman and Senator must attest to the fact that he/she has read the entire Iran treaty, including side deals?
Any Congressman who votes for a treaty without reading it fully is not honorably representing his or her constituents. No one wants to send representatives to Washington to vote on their behalf if the representatives don’t know what they’re voting for.
Of course, since Obama refuses to allow Congress to read the Iran treaty’s side deals, ALL Congressmen who vote for the treaty would be dishonorably serving their constituents.
Is Boehner crying yet?
