She wasn't out drinking alone. Her dad accompanied her...
...she was out drinking with her father and then passed out when they returned to her house...
As I read it, the dad was living with the couple rather than them living with him.

It was the younger man’s home, it was the daughter and father who had been out drinking,and dear dad assaulted his daughter unbeknownst to her.
