Majorities of whites think anti-white discrimination is as bad as the anti-black kind. Honestly, are they out of their minds?
Last week, New York Times columnist Tom Edsall, in a piece about Donald Trumps appeal amongst conservative voters, cited an alarming survey on white peoples racial attitudes that made me wonder if large segments of white America are completely misinterpreting what racism is and how prevalent it remains in our society.
Edsall pointed to a study conducted last fall by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) found that 52 percent of white respondents agreed with the following statement: Today discrimination against whites has become as big a problem as discrimination against blacks and other minorities.
Among subsets of respondents, 76 percent of those affiliated with the Tea Party agreed with the statement. Another 61 percent of Republicans, and 53 percent of independents. A majority of whites over age 50 also agreed with the statement, and 58 percent of working-class whites agreed. Evangelical Protestants (63 percent) and Catholics (56 percent) also agreed.
62 percent of white Democrats disagreed, and 61 percent of those with a college education. White Americans under 50 also disagreed, even though it was close. Only 48 percent of whites between the ages of 18-29 agreed, and 49 percent of them disagreed. Of whites 30-49, 46 percent agreed and 52 percent disagreed.
Upon seeing these figures I immediately wondered about what exactly white Americans perceive racism to be, and how the supposed racism they receive has become equal to that of African Americans and other minority groups.
Did a leading American presidential candidate refer to large swaths of the white American population as rapists and murderers(continued)

When I was working for GE in Camden, NJ I wanted to get lunch and help out the local economy.
I want into a black deli and tried to order a sandwich.
I was told “We don’t serve whites here.”
I left and never went back and always used to company cafeteria.
Racism is the dislike of a race because of prejudicial attitudes and biased beliefs.
Does this idiot author think that can't happen in any possible combination? There are three races scientifically, so racism can occur in 9 possible ways.
They have. It has just been a while.
Look up the Tulsa Race Riots, for example.
Just what is a “racist,” anyway???
I am an octogenarian, a southerner, who has lived all over the country in his time, and once I knew a racist when I got to know them. But I don’t know what a racist is in today’s society. It’s not the same.
Inconceivable!
scholarships for minorities only = racism
all press coverage of crimes committed by minorities that omits the race of the perp = racist
black chamber of commerce, hispanic chamber of commerce = racist.
black beauty pageants = racist black fraternities = racist sports teams that are more than 15% black (by blacks own definition of racist [disparate impact]) = racist cries of “gentrification!” = racist
blacks allowed space to riot = racism
federal government targeting white groups while looking the other way about the actions of minority groups = racism
grade inflation = racism
making tests for various professions easier to help recruit more minorities = racist
I could go on and on.
I observed living in the region that people of southern Illinois and southern Indiana were more discriminatory toward blacks than any place I lived or visited in the South.
Consider the reaction if a bunch of whites, nationwide, started a trend of playing “knockout game” on blacks. You think we wouldn’t get 24/7 coverage of the “crisis”?
Where are the massive white riots over the recent spate of deliberate, planned, organized assassinations of police officers, both white and non-white?
Ya know we’re just not “up to speed” on that stuff
maybe we need our own Revrunt Sharpton for Inspiration and Guidance??
My daughter’s swim lessons are in an overall area where minorities tried to murder 2 cops the other day, in Houston.
We are white, and I feel like a target in that area. At stop lights I look around and notice that we are the only white people present.
A minor fender bender in that area could be a death sentence.
RACISM: noun
1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
With "Kill Whitey" a common theme among the latter-day "civil rights" movements, I would say that they are clearly racist under definition 3. Our obmam-led government is a racist institution under 2. And Calypso Louie's Nutbag Emporium falls under 1.
So yeah, I understand perfectly what it means to be racist. Does the author?
Aaah, Camden, NJ, I remember it well.
About fifteen years ago, I was sent to Camden to work briefly with the local office, and when lunch time came, there were no nearby restaurants, but my co-worker showed me which one of the converted school buses parked in the street served the best food.
At the time, Camden looked more like Beirut than like an American city, and it only could have gotten worse since then.
It looks like Grozny in Chechenya now.
Most gainfully employed white people would not riot as they would have to turn around and pay higher taxes to repair any damage caused.
Now that to one side, it is a legitimate beef, how the Left has employed the "bait & switch" tactics to morph the concept of "racism" from something most people will agree is wrong, into something very different--an outright attack on people's sense of identity, heritage & kinship. (For additional discussion, Reality Is Not A Grievance.)
Conservatives need to recognize the difference between an appeal for fairness--something most of us will agree with--and an attack on the continuity of a people--i.e., what the "diversity" cult is actually about.
Last hired, first laid off.
Get into college with the highest test scores except Asians, least likely to get need based scholarships.
Guilt tripped at government mandated seminars for government employers and government subcontractors.
Assault someone of a darker color in a personal dispute, get charged with a hate crime. Get assaulted for your skin color by those who are darker, not a hate crime. And now schools are going to punish kids with lighter coloring harder to make up for the greater rate of punishments for blacks.
Considered a microaggression to be the majority of a group. Allowed to be banned from “diversity” events.
Discriminated against today in the name of fairness for the sins one’s parents and grandparents purportedly committed.
Apparently the author’s this is the bread and butter for making a living.
“Upon seeing these figures I immediately wondered about what exactly white Americans perceive racism to be, and how the supposed racism they receive has become equal to that of African Americans and other minority groups.”
The leftists are the ones who have no idea what racism is. A few leftie academics invented a politically loaded definition of racism and all the other leftie drones parrot it as if it were actually legitimate. Sorry, but academics don’t can’t redefine words, and even if they could, redefining words does not redefine reality.
Besides, if racism is so much worse against blacks, why have we seen 2 cases within six months where white people were exposed for pretending to be black in order to gain advantages? Not to mention Elizabeth Warren and Ward Churchill pretending to be indians?
You don’t pretend to be something you are not unless you think the charade will give you some kind of benefits.
I guess Barret has never heard of Affirmative Action
Barret also has to watch some college football, if he wants to see racial under representation in action...
