“The initial uprising was by patriots ... “ —

I am not fully buying into that. I don’t have enough confidence in the UN, the Obama regime, or our intelligence community to buy into that. I just don’t fully trust them.

And if we have an uprising here in the USA of “patriots,” what do you think will happen?

Yes. It was a mistake to help overthrow Ghadaffi. I’ll take a stabilizing force in that region any time.

This is just another reason not to trust our intelligence community. And where was the plan to stabilize Libya after the aggression?

We had a political influence in the movement to overthrow Mubarak. That should have been clear to everyone. Yes, we may now be trying to normalize relations with Egypt but you can be certain that we have lost their trust. They know our leaders are on the side of the muzzie brotherhood. That should be clear. And I have no doubts that the current leaders are willing to accept arms and aid. Again, I wouldn’t trust the Obama administration on anything.

We agree Obama is mostly responsible for the current crisis in Iraq.

We seem to agree that dems are more on the side of palestinians than Israel.

Also, Assad’s regime has long protected Christians in Syria. That tells me a lot. Women aren’t treated brutally as they are in so many other Islamic nations. He certainly hasn’t been what I would call an Islamic extremist.

Personally, I don’t equate my morals to those of the Russians or Iranians. I also don’t equate my morals to those of the Obama administration. America’s morally superior high ground took a hit with me after twice electing Obama. I don’t trust the Obama administration one bit .... certainly not when it involves Islamic affairs.

Syria was not a serious threat to us or the region. We had not business getting involved.

Sorry, but I don’t support the KGB thug Putin or Iran and the Supreme Leader. Whatever side they are on, I am on the other. I support America.

If you ever get the chance watch Assad’s interview with Charlie Rose on YouTube. Here are a couple of highlights: On Saudi Arabia: Wahabbist nutjobs (paraphrasing) On Turkey and Erdogan, “He thinks he’s the new Sultan.”

Assad is right on that. Erdogan is Evil.

“The initial uprising was by patriots ... “ — I am not fully buying into that

Then we will just agree to disagree,

And if we have an uprising here in the USA of “patriots,” what do you think will happen?

An uprising about what? Armed revolution against the USG? You will have to be more specific.

This is just another reason not to trust our intelligence community. And where was the plan to stabilize Libya after the aggression?

It has always been my contention that the Europeans were pressuring us to come in due to oil interests and the flood of migrants into Lampedusa resulting from the Arab Spring that started in Tunisia and spread into Libya from the crackdown initiated by Ghadaffi on the opposition. The Libyan Civil War started before the intervention by France and Qatar and then NATO, which responded to the imposition of the no-fly zone by the UN.

There was no plan to stabilize Libya after Ghadaffi was taken down. No one in NATO wanted to supply ground troops to do that. We went back in with our Embassy in Tripoli as did most of the European countries afterwards. We had a diplomatic mission in Benghazi along with the Brits and some others whi had consulates there. The Brits pulled out of Benghazi after their Ambassador was attacked. The rest is history.

We had a political influence in the movement to overthrow Mubarak. That should have been clear to everyone.

Yes, but it was limited. We sent in former Amb Frank Wisner who initially recommended that Mubarak should stay until new elections in September. Mubarak had said he wouldn't run for reelection. Subsequently, we supported Mubarak stepping down earlier given the opposition for his staying there longer by El Baradei and others. The Generals took over in the interim until elections could be held.

Elections were held and Morsi and the MB won. After that, Morsi made some fatal mistakes and the generals took back over. The US could not have stopped the elections nor could we have kept Mubarak in power until September. The USG initially supported the Wisner recommendation.

We are trying to restore normal relations with Egypt, but it will be difficult because both sides don't trust us. The MB is not happy about how they were removed from power. We did nothing to stop it and now we are arming the generals.

Also, Assad’s regime has long protected Christians in Syria. That tells me a lot. Women aren’t treated brutally as they are in so many other Islamic nations. He certainly hasn’t been what I would call an Islamic extremist.

So did Saddam Hussein. That doesn't excuse the brutality of Assad or his father before him. You should read the human rights report on Syria. And Assad has been working with the Iranians and Hamas and Hezbollah to attack Israel. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, founded in 1979, a small group devoted exclusively to terrorist activities is headquartered in Syria and receives much of its funding from Iran.

The fact that Iran and Russia support Assad should be your first clue that Assad is not a good guy and his objective is to attack American and Israeli interests. I could care less if he is protective of Syrian Christians. Assad is an Islamic extremist.

You are allowing your hatred of Obama to excuse the behavior of Russia, Iran, and Assad. I am on the side of America. Obama is not the embodiment of America. Our foreign policy and national interests will remain the same long after Obama leaves office.

Syria was not a serious threat to us or the region. We had not business getting involved.

Syria is the proxy of Iran and Russia in the region. Only a fool would deny that. Why do you think they are supporting Assad? Why did Assad seek nuclear weapons? Why did Israel take out the Syrian nuclear installation in the Deir ez-Zor region in Operation Orchard?

I find it disturbing that we have these Putin apologists on FR. They emerge under the guise of hating Obama, but they are pushing the agenda of those who wish us harm. You don't fool me.

“I could care less if he is protective of Syrian Christians.”

We’re going to have to disagree on this one.

You support the so-called “patriots” but not the Syrian Christians?

We still disagree on a few other things but I’ve got to run. Have a nice Labor Day!

It doesn't matter Kabar....there's a silent coalition happening and almost ready to go into Syria...Preparing to save Syria from ISIS, and in one bold stroke... ....Putin is part of that after all negotiations and plans layed out with international Leaders...which is why Putins bases are being manned now with more troops...It's also why Russia Ordered Snap Military Exercises this week which includes civilian preparations...troops to bases in Syria....(Russia's Jade Helm)

Additionally..Cameron is to hold a vote in parliament in early October to allow it to join air strikes by a US-led coalition on Islamic State in Syria, London's Sunday Times said.

Further...France will begin reconnaissance missions on Islamic State targets in Syria tomorrow afternoon with a view to carrying out air strikes on the terror group, President Francois Hollande revealed today.

It is also why Germany and Austria took measure to suspend the Dublin Convention for all asylum seekers to get as many out of the east and log jam as possible before this begins in full... and why the the UN DISASTER RELIEF assisted Germany to expedite people getting there.

There are many moving part happening right now but be assured they are all going after ISIS IMO

The thousands of refugees who arrived in Munich... 150 volunteers working in 4 different areas as reported by the UN Relief Agency... and as written here....

Gee, how will this play when Putin shows his refugee aid flights were denied access to Syrian refugee camps, and all of the refugees had to flee without food to Europe?!

The Russians, Chinese, and Iranians have their own aims in the Middle East. And they are not good for America or Israel.

Assad and Putin also supported IsIs.
.

What is your proof of this support?

Turkey and others have been the ones supporting ISIS. Erdogan is one of Obama’s pals. Russia has warned Turkey about their involvement with ISIS.

From my understanding, Assad is like Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal dictator but has brought very much needed stability to his country .

That’s true, he maintained stability in the area. Let’s face it you are never going to get Mr. Congeniality in that part of the world. But he isn’t the raving lunatics that the mullahs in Iran are.

I believe the US morals are superior to the Russians and Iranians.

You confuse morality with foreign policy. If the USA had a morally superior foreign policy we would be allies with Saudi Arabia.

And while in the early days of the so called Syrian revolution it was spun to show that the Syrian uprising was about secular democrats trying to over throw a dictator - it came out over due time that this not the case:

Good article on this:

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2015/08/25/syrias-lords-of-war

And that article shows that it was really a sectarian uprising.
