Everything you want to know about Donald Trump's bankruptcies
CNN-Money ^ | September 1, 2015 | Chris Isidore

Posted on 09/06/2015 2:12:30 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

".... Trump claims that successful businesses file for bankruptcy all the time. At the debate he said "virtually every person that you read about on the front page of the business sections, they've used the [bankruptcy] law."

But the facts don't back that comment up.

Despite high profile examples, including General Motors (GM), Lehman Brothers and most of the nation's major airlines, fewer than 20% of public companies with assets of $1 billion or more have filed for bankruptcy in the last 30 years, according to data from Bankruptcy.com and S&P Capital IQ.

Trump has never filed for personal bankruptcy. But he has filed four business bankruptcies, which Bankruptcy.com says makes Trump the top filer in recent decades. All of them were centered around casinos he used to own in Atlantic City. They were all Chapter 11 restructurings, which lets a company stay in business while shedding debt it owes to banks, employees and suppliers...."

Here's a look at Trump's bankruptcy track record.

Where did I say perfect or nothing? Trump’s credentials compared to Cruz’s are pathetic.

Ever hear of the solid, inflexible old oak uprooted and felled by the storm, while the flexible sapling survived?

Cruz is VP material at best. He’s not on the charts in polls and never will be. He’s a poor campaigner. You may like him more, but don’t strike down the guy on top for your lower guy. It’s what got us McCain and Romney before. Just think before you act.

You don’t get it. Trump is a liar and will say anything to get elected, kinda like a politician.

We’re in the primaries. We get to choose now and don’t have to take what the media gives us.

Businessmen often finance both sides, hedging their bets. Thus, what you’re saying is not the whole truth. He financed Republicans too, even previously hosting a fundraiser for Jeb Bush.

You found out that politicians are liars? Finally?

Do you want Hillary liar or a Trump liar? They’re all liars for their own interest. None are pure. Get with it already.

You people look at a very brave guy like Trump and have contempt because he hasn't spent his life making speeches about political theory, and, sin of all sins, hasn't believed every single thing that you believe, in the exact proportions and hierarchies in which you organize your beliefs.

You are infantile.

Maybe you would like William F. Buckley to be POTUS. (He would be disgusted by Trump too if he were alive BTW.)

We got problems, here, Louis! Get with the program for crying out loud!

We got a country that is disintegrating before our eyes because of a horde of invading, communist pagans from all over the world, all of whom are going to vote Rat early and often.

We got half of our people (no better than the horde) too brainwashed, too dumb and too lazy to ever be productive in western society, and they are all of them breeding like bacteria in a nutrient solution.

They despise you and your ancestors.

They hate God.

They want you in a camp or in a FEMA box. They don't know or care about history's Cincinatus, or about western culture or history.

They want me and you silent or dead.

And one guy brave enough to oppose all this, to fight the PC tsunami of today comes along, and he, by himself, heroically and miraculously, seems to be turning the tide of this breathtaking collapse of our country.

And you guys hate him because he is not idealogically pure enough.

You are truly amazing.

You don't have a lick of sense.

Maybe lots of us don’t look for a “solid conservative streak” any more, but look for someone with common sense who can fix SOME of the problems we have. Politicians lie to us, get elected, then do as they please to feather their own nests. Many of the Trump people look at America as a big business that needs a steady hand on the reins and someone who will stop the giveaways to the countries that hate us for NOTHING in RETURN. The politicians don’t understand that you can’t buy friends and that something for nothing doesn’t fly. A businessman has a mental fix on creating a profit by stopping the drain on resources. Trump will build the wall and make Mexico pay for it one way or the other.

hanks for stating the obvious, yes, trump is a liar and h will strive achieve every possible aim o get what he wants. have not the American people learned yet with the current liar in chief sitting in the oval office whom has lied repeatedly to get what he wants and has made a fortune off the American people. trump would be no different and probably would be worse as he would make he profits from it. Let’s face it, he has seen Obama, Clintons and countless other crooks opps I mean politicians make a fortune. Yet same idiots have multiple building named after them. Trump’s desire is to have a legacy too - Trumpvilles, just on a grander scale than Obamavilles - all empty shells of grandiose ideas that lack substance and he ability o be achieved - start out great, but the policy and the building with all its glitz and glamour fails miserably

They have someone that’s not PC, that’s not GOPe, that’s not perfect.

But they want their own and will slander the rest no matter what. I watched the last GOP primaries with DISGUST. One after another brought up to the top just to be shouted down as non-pure and we get the most basic and boring.

These types are wanting the same result again. I don’t even know now who is the most plain loser that’s trying this time. But these types are sure to narrow it down to that.

Today it’s:

* Trump 45%, Clinton 40%. (There is a 20-point Gender Gap; Trump leads by 18 points among seniors.)
* Trump 44%, Sanders 40%. (Trump leads by 10 among independents and by 6 among moderates.)
* Trump 44%, Biden 42%. (Trump leads by 10 among the best educated; Biden leads by 17 among the least educated.)
* Trump 44%, Gore 41%. (Trump leads by 12 among men and by 18 among voters age 50+.)

Among a subset of registered voters who tell SurveyUSA that they pay “a lot” of attention to politics, the scale tilts to the right: Today it’s:

* Trump 54%, Clinton 36%.
* Trump 53%, Sanders 39%.
* Trump 53%, Biden 37%.
* Trump 54%, Gore 36%.

Voters were asked whether they support a given Democrat “enthusiastically,” “with reservations,” or, whether they are “holding their nose” voting for a particular candidate.

* 57% of Clinton voters say they are voting enthusiastically.
* 53% of Sanders voters say they are voting enthusiastically.
* 49% of Biden backers say they are voting enthusiastically.
* 45% of Gore voters say they are voting enthusiastically.

By contrast:

* 8% of Clinton supporters say they are holding their nose.
* 8% of Sanders voters say they are holding their nose.
* 9% of Biden voters say they are holding their nose.
* 12% of Gore voters say they are holding their nose.

Voters were asked, regardless of whether they were Democrats or Republicans, and regardless of whom they might vote for in a primary, who they thought would be the major party nominees. Today, Labor Day, voters handicap the primary contests this way:

* 44% say Clinton will be the Democratic Party nominee.
* 22% say Biden will be the nominee.
* 14% say Sanders will be the nominee.
* 3% say Gore.
* 9% say someone else.

* 30% say Trump will be the Republican party nominee.
* 20% say Jeb Bush will the the GOP nominee.
* 14% say Ben Carson will be the GOP nominee.
* 6% say Ted Cruz will be the nominee.
* 4% say Marco Rubio will be the nominee.
* 4% say John Kasich will be the nominee.
* 3% say Carly Fiorina will be the nominee.
* 2% say Scott Walker will be the nominee.

The Donald is a self made man and business tycoon.
Bankruptcies? that’s part of business.

This article intentionally rips him a new one as he has committed some god-awful sin that no mortal could ever be
forgiven.
It’s just the msm. Who cares what they say?

I am not looking for a saint as president. I also am not looking for a conservative. I want a president committed to the Constitution who believes that this nation is the greatest in the history of history.
I want a president who will shake the establishment to its roots. I want a president who will prosecute criminal politicians. I want a president who is beholden to the people, not to his financiers.
Trump may not be the best man for president. But he scares the politicians I hate and that works for me.

All of them were centered around casinos he used to own in Atlantic City.

After nannies-from-hell in NJ and around much of the country started banning smoking on private property (especially in bars, casinos,...) many of those business went broke since smokers are overrepresented in those fun seeking places (more than half of customers smoke).

Even though the nannies from hell came for the casinos last, everyone knew well ahead they're coming everywhere, as soon as the bans were began in restaurants, then expanded to bars. By now they're already going after private homes and outdoors, as well as against the e-cigs. They're all chiefly the result of the Big Pharma's war on medicinal plants, especially on tobacco.

But according to Trump the people he stiffed by declaring bankruptcy were all 3rd rate people who should never have lent him $ in the first place

The willful ignorance of all things Trump on FR is astonishing and cult like. Its apologetics are extreme so that they can embrace a terribly flawed messenger who’s stumbled into a message they like.

Trump brought out the fact that the Iran treaty forces us to defend Iran should Israel attack Iran. THAT should be enough to destroy the treaty. WHY don’t we hear more about that instead of the quibbling about Trump’s past associations? Don’t people know how to weigh and measure critical issues instead of media garbage?
