WHAT LAW?
Did the legislature of Kentucky pass a law legalizing gay marriage?
Did the Congress of the United States pass a law legalizing gay marriage?
So, what law are you referring to, Mr. Trump?
Kentucky Revised Statute 402.020 Other prohibited marriages (1)Marriage is prohibited and void (d)Between members of the same sex. This is the law. Still on the books. I don’t know which law Trump is talking about either. County clerks across the state are in violation of KRS 402.02(1)(d) when/if they issued marriage licenses to same sex couples.
Have the states ever delegated to Congress, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to make a law legalizing things like gay marriage?
Low-information citizens like Trump who are clueless that corrupt judges are legislating gay marriage from the bench is why a good citizen like Ms Davis is in jail in the first place imo.
Remember, pro-gay activist federal judges know that they can get away with legalizing gay marriage from the bench because they know that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Senate is not willing to work with the House to remove them from the bench for doing so.
The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators and actvist judges along with it.
Why are these people so dense? Did they ever take 7th grade American Government? Do they not understand how a law is made?
Oh come on! The American public did not rise up in any meaningful fashion when the SCOTUS RULED Gay Marriage is the Law of the Land. This isn’t Trump’s fight, this is Kim’s and I hope she wins but as with obummer, Hope doesn’t Change anything.
I hate to see the mayor and city council of San Francisco being sent to jail but the law is the law...
The Dred Scott decision was the law too, Don.
Did that make it right?
“What law?”
Exactly.
“Did the legislature of Kentucky pass a law legalizing gay marriage? “
Did liberal states pass a law reversing their restrictive gun laws when SCOTUS slapped them down?
No?
Then I suppose they are still on the books then.
They’re not?
Then you answered your own question.
Yeah, I’ll believe the “law is the law” when I see the mayors and city managers of sanctuary cities held in contempt and jailed. Or ditto when governors and AG’s flouted the laws when it came to DOMA, or when their clerks issued licenses to homo couples when it was directly against the law. Or when Obama/Hillary/Holder ever have to pay for any of their lawless actions, which are legion by now.
The law is a joke. Selective, arbitrary enforcement. Just like what goes on in a banana-republic. If this is the “law” Trump is standing by, I have zero use for him.
You’re exactly right. SCOTUS found the KY law null and void, but there is no other law to replace it. So there IS no marriage law in KY. That’s why Kim Davis couldn’t license marriages in her county.
will trump lock up government officials who refuse to enforce immigration laws? All those mayors/governors and their sanctuary cities
This and the planned parenthood comments are two divergences in his campaign from my own preference
A soliloquy about religious freedom would have been nice
He’s surrounded by tacticians with no anchor like Cohen
He needs a Franklin Graham in his ear too
Oh, San Francisco, you don't want to obey the immigration laws? Well, like the Kentucky county clerk, your officials are now subject to arrest. Oh, and NO federal funds to your city while you disobey the law.
The trouble is that SCOTUS has ruled against this country's judaeo-christian tradition, and created a tension between Christian tradition and the traditional deference to SCOTUS, part of our tradition of deference to the Constitution and the rule of law. SCOTUS should have found a way to avoid doing that; several justices did, after all.Nobody can say that its nice that the elected County Clerk is in jail, or that it isnt a sticky situation. But this could be the first time Trump has gotten wrong-footed. First comment hes made since announcing that TEA party types havent had reason to cheer.
SCOTUS should read the postlog of the Constitution:
Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth.
If she’s such a big Christian, why was she married and who the heck would marry her 3 times....I mean really, 3 times??? I don’t think she should be in jail but she’s not a true Christian either.
What a disappointment! It is evident Mr. Trump doesn’t realize WHO the Ultimate Authority is on ALL matters. People in leadership positions will be judged for their actions and inactions. We all will have to answer one day, some day, maybe a “soon and very soon” day. http://www.patburt.com/
It is generally accepted that once SCOTUS rules, it is the law and will be enforced as such, Constitution, Religious Freedom and common sense notwithstanding.
We just have to understand that the gov’t is working against us as with Roe, RKBA and others.
The Supreme Court is the the Super Legislative Branch.
Because their signature is not required on the marriage license, only the chief clerk's is. Their opinion doesn't matter any more than the janitor's opinion. The clerk is an elected official, and so speaks for the people -- the deputies (and the janitor) don't.
.
This should be all the proof anybody needs to see that Trump is still very much a far left Democrat.
The Dems have used the courts to dismantle the republic that the founders created.
F___ you TRump!
