That may prove more difficult for Scott given VT’s preference for execrable cretins to be sent to DC, and the timing somewhat awkward for the Senate races.

Given that Leahy’s seat is up in 2016, he can’t run for that. Sanders’ is up in 2018, and it’s unlikely Scott would leave the Governorship after a single two year term (since he’d have to start running for it barely after taking office and it would leave an open Governorship). Otherwise he’d have to wait for 2022, presumably when Leahy might retire after 48 years in the Senate.

After 3 terms as Governor, that would be good timing. He’ll be in his 60’s though.
