Mine spent more time in the shop for warranty work and in the back of various trucks than it ever did running. It was a brand new 2000 model that leaked oil and randomly refused to start.

New bikes are *NOT* supposed to leak oil.

Looks like you got a lemon. My 2008 Sportster runs like a dream, and my husband is still riding his 1999 Softail.

A few Harley owners don't know enough to avoid overfilling the oil. Do that and you get your right leg sprayed with oil out the air cleaner. My 2008 XL1200R and 2009 FXDF have never shed a drop of oil on my garage floor.
