"But non-illegals, especially citizens of the same income and education have far more mental problems than illegals."

Thanks for the insight.

If such is the case then what is causing the problems, not that I expect you to have the answer?

America is a population with many somewhat educated in the middle class, middle income. Americans with low income are mostly uneducated (mostly because they did not apply themselves in school. I wasn’t cool to be a geek.) They drop out and are now low income Americans with no hope. They are discouraged, depressed, in denial, don’t want to admit their role in their own situation.

In contrast, most immigrants are optimistic that they can get ahead. Just by coming to the US they double their income and living standard. In the old country they live 10 extended family in a small 2 room “house” with no indoor plumbing and undependable elcectric.

They come to the US and live 5 “cousins” in a 4 room apartment with a full bathroom and dependable electricity.
They start off at 10/hr (some at 15/hr) and once they prove that they can get to work on time and not be drunk or hungover, they get a 50% raise in 2 steps.

Most of them continue up the ladder. They believe and aspire to upward mobiliy. They see the anti-illegal, pro-everify voices and opposed to upward mobility by working for it. They see conservatives/Republicans as anti-work, anti-their aspirations to open their own small business (Landscaping, construtcion, supermercado, taco loco, quiensabe).

In the Republican suburbs they are harrassed by building code, zoning code, health code inspectors because their sign is too large, or too this or too that. They are harassed by Republicans, not Democrats, and conclude the Republicans are opposed to upward mobility.

I’m exaggerating here to make my point, but not by much.

Not all fit the above description. I’d estimate 10% committed some felony in their small town back home and are wanted by the local authorities. They see the US as having more “freedom”. To them freedom means the ability to have sex anytime you want like they see from Hollywood. Back home, if you are drunk and disorderly you are thrown in jail and beaten by the town sadist who is gratified in his job and taken away from beating those who don’t deserve it.

They flee to the US to avoid their local law enforcement.
In the US they can drink to excess, drive drunk, drunk in public with little or no immediate punishment. They can shoplift and never be prosecuted.

So not all are the same.
