Jeb Bush: The man who killed Trump's casino dreams
cnn.com ^ | September 2, 2015 | Jeremy Diamond

Donald Trump openly boasts that he donates to politicians so he can exact favors from them after they reach office.

He did so for Jeb Bush in 1998, holding a high-dollar fundraiser for the gubernatorial candidate in Trump Tower and shelling out $50,000 to the Florida Republican Party. But when Bush took office in 1999, Trump didn't get the political help he needed to make his casino dreams a reality in the Sunshine State.

Raising taxes is a dealbreaker. Read my lips.

He's NOT raising taxes.

There’s three major issues he’s utterly liberal on. Taaxes, Homos and Healthcare

Never even heard Trump say anything about homos, and on the other two, he's more conservative than you!

I guess his direct words about raising taxes on the rich was just a hallucination.

Yes it is your drug fueled hallucination. You're talking about his attack on the Hedge Fund guys. You're also ignoring the extreme tax cut for everybody else and simplification.

Quite frankly I don't actually even care about the paper pushers. They've been screwing us for years! That doesn't do anything for any of the job creators.

You might wanna look at the trannys he backed in his pageants

You wouldn’t know a conservative if you tripped over one judging by your post history.

Considering your other exaggerations, I've no reason to think this isn't another one!

You wouldn’t know a conservative if you tripped over one judging by your post history.

You're a dufus calling me a liberal just because I'm backing Trump. So who are YOU backing? I'll return the favor when I point out their leftist position on immigration, which is a far bigger deal than anything you got on Trump.

Who cares which American he was talking about raising taxes on? Conservatives lower, not raise taxed or has FR become Redstate when I wasn’t looking?

You cant say he never said it and then give an example of him saying it and not be thought pretty screwed up in your logic.

Cruz. Show me where a Conservative should not be backing him over Trump. In detail.

By the way, Redstate HATES Donald Trump, but is singing your tune. Watch what you say fool, the shoe gets put on the other foot real easy.

Before going Alynski, look up his history with introducing trannies to his pageants. And his positions.

Try being informed on subjects you speak of. Or don’t speak on them.

Redstate makes regular excuses for more taxes. Which was my point. Try to keep up.

Concerning Donald Trump, frustrated conservative patriots see a demigod but they might just get a demagogue.

Then we have nothing to lose by supporting Trump...Unless you are suggesting Trump can't beat Hillary but Bush can...Either way, the Democrats win...The Globalists win...China wins...Mexico wins...International big money wins...

So we should reject the only candidate who is not a 'no borders' globalist and wants to make America great again because he may be faking it???

Cruz. Show me where a Conservative should not be backing him over Trump. In detail.

Cruz supports legalization of illegals and defines "amnesty" exclusively as a "pathway to citizenship." He backed away from deportation and was even shy to talk about self-deportation, making him even weaker than Romney on the topic. His amendment to the gang of eight bill would only have had that change (barring the pathway to citizenship), but with that change said he would vote for it. Of course, creating a second class of legal individuals in the US without a pathway to naturalization is ridiculous and cannot stand, and thus, if Cruz had his way, it would only result in a slower pathway to citizenship and 40 million new voters for the Democrat party-- on top of continued abuse of our financial system. You can find confirmation for this here:

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/08/ted_cruz_vs_donald_trump_whos_stronger_on_immigration.html

This video, comparing and contrasting Cruz and his mealy mouth ways on this issue with Trump is also quite important. It's Cruz's artificiality on this issue and willingness to change terms and not tell the whole story which told me that I can't trust him:

http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/08/26/compare-and-contrast-senator-ted-cruz-vs-donald-trump-on-illegal-immigration-video/

Cruz has also not been honest about his wife's role with the CFR and Open Border Free-Trade schemes. He called her role "conservative," but the only thing conservative she wrote was calling for "free enterprise" to implement some of the globalist policy positions. In general, she supported open borders and the creation of a North American Union. Why would Cruz not be up front about her and describe her work as "conservative"? Either he is lying, or he really believes that a North American Union is a Conservative goal! Considering Cruz's double-talk on immigration... that's a big possibility.

Here is a video with some background on Heidi Cruz, showing her leftist bonafides:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6nYjbCOiLA

Sorry, but on the biggest issue of our time, IMMIGRATION, Cruz falls flat on his face.

What makes you think Cruz is anti-establishment? Cruz is pro amnesty. Pro Patriot Act. Pro New World Order agenda. And one could argue Pro Muslim Brotherhood since he favored cutting aid to Egypt after Egypt ousted its' MB government. Cruz has spend his entire adult life in Academia and Government. Hardly an anti-establishment resume and when coupled with the above makes me seriously doubt Cruzs' judgment. I think Cruz needs a few more years to demonstrate his bonifids before asking conservatives to vote him POTUSA.

Trump will enforce existing immigration laws. Only Trump will and for that reason alone Trump deserves the vote of every thinking American.

We are reassured that Donald Trump is incorruptible because he doesn't need anyone's money. This even though he admits he paid money to politicians to corrupt them, that is to get favors and cooperation.

Which GOP candidate has actually addressed “tyranny and corruption” as an issue - and has a track record of exposing it?

Ted Cruz.

Cruz has stood up in the Senate all night long virtually alone against the Republican establishment and the media to defend us against tyranny. What has Donald Trump actually done except fund ethical "corruption" and profit from it?

We haven’t had a nominee that reflects conservative values in a few decades. Please articulate the merits of that strategy?

I see no merits and that strategy and that is why I support Ted Cruz who more than any other candidate reflects conservative values as demonstrated when he frequently risked his position and his popularity by publicly opposing the Republican establishment. I fail to see how Donald Trump reflects conservative values by virtue of his biography or by virtue of his public statements. The man is a kaleidoscope of shifting positions. If immigration is a dealbreaker, how about trumps position on abortion? If opposing political parties is critical, how about Trump' S membership in the Democrat party and voting for Democrats and funding Democrats? What about trumps desire to raise taxes? The list goes on. I simply do not understand how Trump reflects conservative values.

If you want to argue that Trump has a stronger position on immigration and amnesty than Cruz, I think you are probably right but Trump's position is not without its flaws. The whole position is incoherent, removing everybody than bringing in the "terrific" ones-without defining "terrific." The discrepancies between Trump's public utterances and his written immigration paper. I approve of Trump's position on H1B much more than Cruz' which is wrong. My support of Cruz is made on balance. Trump is wrong or has been wrong on so many issues that the differences on immigration are outweighed.

Why would you reject Trump who has at least some positions that offer a possibility of some reform of government and political parties when he leads in the polls?

Because it is too early for the polls to be dispositive. Moreover, Trump still has problems with unfavorability and acceptability among independents and Democrats which go to his electability. If another conservative is more conservative than Trump and will eventually surpass him in polls of conservatives, he is to be preferred. If at the end of the primary process, Trump is ahead, so be it but we are not there yet.

As to reform of the political parties, I agree that Trump will attack the Republican establishment but so will Cruz. Cruz has already done so where he could and when it counted. The man is not perfect, he was wrong on trade and wrong on the Iran deal and I have already noted that I think he is wrong on H1B. But he has not been wrong nearly so much as has Trump.

I like Cruz as much as anyone. Right now he is mere abstraction as a viable candidate though. To claim otherwise is delusion. (Emphasis supplied).

I have emphasized the words, "right now" because it is not "right now" that we are picking a viable candidate.

I'm getting all kinds of signals beyond demagogue: gadfly, political dilettante, ego, intemperate, indeed, just about anything and everything but conservative!

Immensely entertaining, to be sure, in terms of his effect on the establishment and the media. But highly disturbing as a voice for conservatism.

Sounds like Bush is your man then...He claims to be a conservative like you...

To stop the train wreck that our Country is headed into, monikers like conservative and liberal are becoming less and less important...Both factions are taking us into the abyss...

I'm going to support someone who is 'wrapped in the flag'...

Isn't that what Ted Cruz is for? Resolving the illegal immigration mess? And appointing original-intent judges?

Ted won't make it to the end of the primary...The best Ted can hope for is a VP spot and he won't get that opportunity unless Trump wins...

Well you got about 5% of that right.

And your mention of his wife shows what your issue actually is. Funny you have no issue with lesbian porn in a first lady though.

You're free to disprove anything written in my post, otherwise, I'm 100 percent correct. As for your second paragraph-- I have no idea what you mean. But if your candidate is lying about his wife being an open borders supporter, and is disingenuous about his own position on the status of illegals, that's a way bigger deal than someone else's wife. No idea where you got the "lesbian porn" thing.

See my post on Ted Cruz. As for Cruz’s accomplishments— he’s made a lot of noise, but actually he has not accomplished very much even there. But it’s my fear of what he really wants to accomplish with immigration that is the biggest problem of all.

As I read back through your posts I see there is an awful lot you don’t know about the guy you argue so strongly for. Why don’t you go learn more and come back when you can speak from knowledge rather than emotion.

As for Ted, You can stack all the H1B info you like. It does not make a dent by comparison to the swaths of liberalism Trump has in his history. NOT - A DENT.

I never said TC was perfect. He is however far more conservative as his record shows in a direct comparison. You shouldn’t be so ‘purist’ about these things...
