Army chief says India is ready for swift and short [sudden] wars

The general’s strong words on the readiness of his force came at a tri-service seminar on the Golden Jubilee of 1965 Indo- Pak war.

“We are acutely aware that the swift short nature of future wars is likely to offer limited warning time. This calls for maintaining a very high level of operational preparedness at all times. It’s something that has now become important in our strategy,” Singh said.

The comment assumes utmost significance as Pakistan has kept the Kashmir pot boiling in recent months by stepping up infiltration attempts.

The guns have barely fallen silent on both the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) even resulting in civilian casualties amid a complete breakdown of communication at the tactical commander level.

Adding fire to the fuel was sabre-rattling by the establishment in Islamabad, with Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif warning that India will suffer heavy losses if it tries to impose a war on the country.

...

Recent intelligence reports indicate that there is a surge in infiltration attempts being made by terror groups....

Similar to the recent attacks, intelligence inputs indicate that groups of 4-5 are ready to be pushed in from the launch pads across the border. A group of five JeM terrorists camping at a launch pad in Kel in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) along with their guide Farooq Malik are ready to infiltrate, said a latest intelligence input. It also specified the two routes that they were likely to take to infiltrate from PoK.

In another intelligence input, there was mention of JeM terrorists in a terrorist camp in Sialkot who were being readied to carry out a fidayeen strike in Jammu, infiltrating through the International Border (IB) to target security forces.

Since both India, Pakistan and China are all nuclear armed, there will be no large conventional prolonged invasions.

Hmm, if India and Pakistan have a small nuclear exchange; or India and China do...

will the US start "insourcing" again?

If so, the executives behind the original "outsourcing" should be tried and convicted of treason.

So let’s hope a nuclear armed Pakistan doesn’t draw in a nuclear armed Iran, Russia, and/or China.

Pakistan and India both have relatively small militaries. They don’t have the manpower or equipment for a sustained battle.
