Chavez-Gonzalez remains in the Yakima County jail, in lieu of $20,000 bail. The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has also placed an immigration hold. She is scheduled to be formally arraigned on the eluding charges on Sept. 8. If convicted of eluding, she could be sentenced to up to 6 years.

I gotta wonder what she blew on the breathalyzer. Based on her actions, it’s potentially a record-breaking number.

That’s what caught my eye too and the fact that they actually reported the immigration hold on her.
General rule of thumb here in eastern Washington is if they report car accidents and other crimes it is getting to be a pretty safe bet they are Hispanic, illegal or otherwise
I’m guessing she is just an illegal, and not wanting to get caught. Afraid with no knowledge of the language of the country you live in is no way to go through life.
I imagine a good lawyer could get her off. She was afraid of getting killed by the police, and was heading to only police station she knew of which was by her house 30 miles away.

I once watched an illegal (presumed) driving at high speed about 6 AM on one bare rim and one flat tire right through town.

She could have very well killed a car full of American Citizens traveling the RIGHT way. I personally don't give a chit if she can speak English or not. She's here Illegally, drunk and put many lives other than her own at risk. If she was that afraid, perhaps she should have gone home...to Mexico!

What the hell is it with mexicans and driving the wrong way? Any time you hear about it, you’re almost guaranteed that it’s an illegal, and almost as likely a drunk one.
They are easy to spot in the cities and towns as they always drive 5-10mph slower than the speed limit for fear of getting caught. Even in the small towns it can takes several minutes to drive a few blocks if you get behind them. The local police are aware of this fact but don’t really do anything about the “slow drivers”...
ILLEGAL MEXICAN driver who has invaded PASCO should be the headline...
