FOX LAKE, Illinois -- Sources tell Tribune partner WGN that a Fox Lake police officer has died after being shot Tuesday morning, September 1st. Sources tell WGN that the officer's gun and pepper spray was taken.
Meanwhile, police are searching for two suspects: one white male and one black male. There is also possibly a third suspect. Multiple helicopters and K-9s are searching the area.
WGN reports Rollins Road between Washington Avenue and Route 59 is closed and all area schools are on lockdown. Service on the Milwaukee District North Line is also shut down in both directions.

Town of about 12,000 souls, located in the beautiful Chain O'Lakes countryside, featuring rolling green hills and lots of forest preserves. Middle and higher-income homes and summer cottages scattered around.

Just heard an officer say he was at a home and there are dogs inside and possibly blood in driveway but he wasn’t sure. Don’t know the location. Now they are talking about possibly an abandoned house.

Officer died after the shooting. I'm actually familiar with that area. I used to drive through it as I went to visit my grandmother. It's typically not an area that would see a crime like this. Everything about this shooting in that area stinks like hell to me. I'm thinking it was a setup (read that: execution.)
His name is Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, and he had a family with young children. He was also former Military, serving with honor between 1980 and 2007.
