Clinton’s Private Server Crashed Repeatedly, Sowed Confusion at State Department
National Review ^ | 09/01/2015 | by BRENDAN BORDELON

New Hillary Clinton e-mails released in a late-night document dump Monday reveal how the former secretary of state’s use of a private e-mail account sowed confusion in the State Department, with government IT professionals unaware that she was using a private — and apparently buggy — computer server to conduct official business.

On February 27, 2010, State Department computer technician Christopher Butzgy sent an e-mail titled “E-mail test” to Clinton’s private e-mail account. “I work as a help desk analyst and it has come to my attention that one of our customers has been receiving permanent fatal errors from this address, can you please confirm if you receive this message,” he wrote.

Clinton did not confirm, instead forwarding the e-mail to top aide Huma Abedin. “Do you know what this is?” she asked.

“Ur email must be back up!!” Abedin replied. “What happened is judith sent you an email. It bounced back. She called the email help desk at state (I guess assuming u had state email) and told them that.”

“They had no idea it was YOU, just some random address so they emailed,” Abedin continued. “Sorry about that. But regardless, means ur email must be back! R u getting other messages?”

#share#“I’ve gotten some messages from yesterday — how about you?” Clinton said. “Nothing,” Abedin replied.

It’s not the first time Clinton’s e-mail server apparently stopped working. In October 2012, Abedin complained to Clinton that her e-mail account “has been down since last night.”

With State Department technicians apparently unaware of its existence, it’s impossible to determine who fixed Clinton’s faulty e-mail system. In June, David Bossie, head of conservative group Citizens United, raised questions about the server collapse and its national-security implications. “Huma is talking about her e-mail being down, about the server being down,” he said on Fox News in June. “Who services the server? Does the geek squad show up and just fix it in Chappaqua? I don’t think so.”

Hmmm.

That could set up a new excuse for Clinton during the Benghazi attack:

‘I wasn’t aware because my email server was down.’

They did not just open a laptop and plug it into a modem to 'dial' into the State Department servers.

This Michael Savage clip has 2 experts who explain how complicated the 'computer security' is in government agencies:

That clip is about 15 minutes in length and worth listening to.

Well when you’re trying to crack a server, it can put it under heavy load and that can cause errors. That’s the whole point. You force errors which spit out useful information.

Her server was split open wider than Debbie on her trip through Dallas.

When it wasn’t crashing it was running slow... not implying Hillary’s computer was buggy - or that multiple countries were hacking at the same time or anything...

Wikileaks had a bunch of secret information from the State Department...

This includes Ms. Clinton arranging the “Arab Spring.” She flew, via State Department, Egyptian protest leaders in order to train them.

what i’d like to know is who set up the routing tables to allow classified traffic to route to an unclassified network.

better yet... there’s an unclassified line linked directly into an unclassified network?! who set that up?

I’d be really interested in knowing exactly what software they were using to process mail. Sendmail? Exchange? Something else?

Just WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! The only thing worse would be them finding emails from bff Kim, Vlad and Masum thanking her for the super duper top secret nuke full launch code.

After that admission I hope Christopher Butzgy is called to testify and/or that he has his affairs in order.

I’m hysterical. A poor little technician at the “help desk” almost blew it.

Interesting email - does it mean that the govt. worker in the State Dept. couldn't help desk see the “clintonemail” bit in the headers?

Was there some sort of State Dept. link that simply transferred official email sent to a govt. address to Clinton's private server?

They defend themselves with “it’s complicated.” Suppose that trekkie had been Snowden. It wouldn’t be complicated then. She lucks out in so many ways.

I assume the Help Desk guy was killed to protect the guilty.
John Boehner will have a committee look into it.

The server Hillary set up was not on a Government network. It was merely, shall we say, just another email address similar to a hotmail or yahoo email address, except it was her private server.

Email addresses at State might look like this Hillary R. Clinton SecState and not like this, e.g., HRC22@State.gov. The fact that Hillary was using a private address was masked by the "Hillary R. Clinton, SecState" which is what would have showed up to user's... unless they clicked on her actually name to find the private server address.

The IT person is the one who actually found the HRC22@ private server and made an issue of it.

Ask me why and I will just say I was working overseas as an actual IT profession in the foreign service - and I was unaware - simply because she didn't email me!
