What about a Christian clerk refusing to issue a license for someone who has been married before? There are Christian faiths that do not accept the state’s version of civil divorce and remarriage.

There is a reason most churches don’t run adoption agencies anymore. You MUST place a child with two gay people ahead of two married heterosexual people.

She will not be criminally prosecuted. The county clerk will be sued (not financially) for the issuance of the license. This is the proper way actually to legally challenge the courts rulings. Gutsy move, but proper.

Muslims and Hindus have different religious beliefs that are protected by law. A muslim clerk would not be forced to issue a gay marriage license, or prescribe birth control.
Basically, there is NO LAW compelling her to do so.
