INDIANAPOLIS -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a man convicted of baking his friends dog to death in an oven.
Joel Clark was sentenced last Tuesday to home detention, not jail or prison time, despite the outcry from the animal welfare community.
Clark failed to properly maintain his GPS monitoring equipment and is currently not being monitored, according to John Deiter, director of Marion County Community Corrections.
Clark also failed to maintain contact with Community Corrections, Deiter said.
Court staff also said Clark is not answering his phone and his whereabouts are unknown.
Criminal Court Judge William Nelson sentenced Clark to two years of home detention at Good News Ministries after Clark pleaded guilty to baking his friends dog to death in an oven.
Nelson said last week Clark is battling alcohol and mental health issues, while also holding down a job to support two children.
Im going to give this guy a chance, but if he screws up, hes going to prison, Nelson said last week.

Clark was on house arrest and living with friends in May of 2014, when one of the friends discovered her dog, Zane, dead at the bottom of a trash can.
She later opened the oven door and saw a cookie sheet and pizza pan with red dog hair and what appeared to be a toenail from a small dog.
According to the probable cause, officials performed a necropsy and found Zanes whiskers were burned, and he had burn marks on his legs and feet.

Not much to say.
Only good thing is that he won’t be avoiding jail this time.
Judge explains lack of jail time for man who baked dog in oven
One of the biggest factors in this case is that the victim (owner of the dog) pleaded with me not to send Clark to jail, said Judge Nelson. She wanted him to get help instead. I took all of that into account, plus the prosecutor wasnt asking for jail time.
The man when he’s caught, should be BAKED to death.
I suspect dog killers pretty much are at the bottom of the totem pole in the prison hierarchy.
Was Obama invited over to share the meal?
This guy’s a murderer, if he hasn’t already killed someone ...he will.
The owner of the dog needs to understand that psychopaths cannot get help. Their brains are defective; no amount of counseling can fix a physical defect.
The guy needs to be jailed not just for what he did to the dog, but because he's likely to move on to killing humans next. Many mass murderers have a history of animal torture. They move on to humans because cruelty to animals loses its thrill after a while.
In before someone says were wasting time on this because its animals, and not about abortion.
I remember watching the daily horror and pain wrought by Katrina, it cut me so deep watching the misery, that I donated hard dollars to rescuing........ yep, you guessed it, the animals, not the people. A lot of folks feel this way about dogs.
As most who`ve researched the issue (and the freeper who already posted above) know, these creeps often go on to kill humans because the animals will eventually lose their ‘thrill’ for the psycho in question. Point should be does law enforcement keep track of these creeps just as they do sex offenders?
Usually around the Summer solstice.
Agreed. And very slowly.
Petting my Black Lab (sorry, African-American Lab) so she does not read this...
350 should do for the temp and 24 hours the time.
“350 should do for the temp and 24 hours the time.”
Is that the time and temp it takes to bake a Sand Rat?
Chet?
