Cruz May Reject Rivals’ Requests to Join Trump at Iran Deal Rally
NR ^ | 8/31/15 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 08/31/2015 4:11:01 PM PDT by VinL

Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) has invited Donald Trump to attend a September 9 rally against the Iran deal, but other 2016 presidential candidates who want to join might not receive the same courtesy. “Two other presidential candidates called me — they didn’t call me directly, their top aides called me — asking if they can speak and I simply referred it to Ted Cruz. It’s really not appropriate for me to make that decision since they’re all competitors,” says Morton Klein, the president of the Zionist Organization of America, which is helping organize the rally at the U.S. Capitol, when reached for comment Monday.

Cruz announced that he had invited Trump to speak at the September 9 rally on Thursday, whereupon representatives from two of “the most prominent of the people running” asked Klein if they might also attend. Klein says he passed the requests to the senator and his senior staff. If Cruz declines to allow his other rivals to speak at the rally, it would be another indication that he’s attempting to cultivate a special relationship with Trump, presumably because he hopes to attract Trump’s supporters in the event the real-estate mogul flames out. It could also give oxygen to complaints that Cruz is willing to sacrifice party unity to boost his presidential prospects — an accusation that GOP critics have lodged against the Texas freshman almost since he took office.

The organizers haven’t yet decided on a final list of speakers, and the famously vindictive Trump could also influence the lineup. “There’s discussion internally in the Cruz camp about that, there’s discussion in the Trump camp, and the [activists] camp,” a Cruz campaign spokesman told NR on Friday. “There’s no consensus by anybody about what the agenda is going to be, and so we’re working on that right now.”?

Klein “personally would want more presidential speakers,” but the idea of the rally grew out of a meeting between Cruz and other activist groups — the Tea Party Patriots and the Center for Security Policy are also sponsoring the event — and so he will defer to Cruz’s decision. “I would be inclined, although I don’t know, to think that they would maybe not feel comfortable to bring another presidential candidate in,” he says.

In any case, the rally will not be devoid of hatchet-burying. Glenn Beck, perhaps Trump’s biggest critic in conservative media, will speak at the rally. “Just found out this minute that Beck has accepted,” Klein says. —

I think Beck cut a deal with Trump. Beck knows Trump has the lead all over the place and he doesn’t want to be left out of the fun, or be on the wrong side of the equation. This has been preplanned to make nice between the two. Both could benefit. I could very well be wrong here, but I smell collusion.

He may have.

Trump doesn’t seem the kind to deny others an interview or access.

They give him free air-time. He’s in.

Gotta love it...

I sent Trump a link to the Allen West speech in Times Square and told him to invite West but not sure what will happen.

Israel is a small beleaguered country under constant siege, so ANY Zionist gathering benefits from as much attendance as possible. Israel and Zionism need all the support they can get.

Ted Cruz should not only NOT turn any Republican candidate away from the gathering, he should encourage the 15 other Republican candidates besides himself and Donald Trump to attend.

Congress is expected to vote on the Iran treaty on September 8th, and the majority in Congress is expected to reject the treaty.

All Republicans are expected to vote against the treaty. After which, the Democratic president is expected to veto the majority’s will, followed by Democrats upholding the president’s veto.

So on the day after the vote, September 9th, when the Zionist gathering is scheduled to be held, as many Republican speakers as possible should be in attendance to remind Americans, especially Jewish Americans, that it’s the Republican party that supports Israel, while the Democratic party instead supports Israel’s mortal enemy Iran.

DISAGREE.

Donald and Ted are the only candidates who have demonstrated their devotion to assisting and joining Israel in its defense.

It is in Israel’s interest to see its two most solid supporters rise to the top of the ticket.

Which poll did Trump's poll numbers drop?

DesMoines Register Aug 30: Trump 23, Carson 18, Walker 8
DesMoines Register May 29: Walker 17, Carson 10, Trump 4
No DesMoines Register Poll in between...

Monmouth Poll Aug 31: Trump 23, Carson 23, Fiorina 10
Monmouth Poll July 19: Walker 22, Trump 13, Carson 8
No Monmouth polls between these.

Polls can only be compare to the same poll done previously because of sampling methods and how a question is asked. Are you talking about a different poll?

Cruz entered this race to win. He doesn’t owe anybody a thing.

“Cruz came up with the idea.”

So this is not a rally against the Iran Nuke deal, but a rally to help Cruz. The sponsors of the rally should have automatically asked all the candidates if they wanted to speak. It would have expressed unity among the Republican party. Instead they allowed it to be political for Cruz.

“But yes, I would respectfully tell Dr. Carson that Cruz and Trump will be the only speakers.”

OK.

“The organizers haven’t yet decided on a final list of speakers”.

Knowing that how would you handle Carson.

Well now there are plenty of GOP prezzy contenders. Nothing is stopping the rivals from banding together to organize their own “STOP IRAN” event...so why don’t they?

Are they going to have a hissy fit because they weren’t invited to the ‘cool’ party?

Really?

Says a lot about them.

You may have stumbled upon a great campaign slogan:

“Trump and Cruz .. THAT’S ALL WE NEED.”

I was thinking Rand Paul could be the most likely to show up uninvited and act all indignant about it. I could be wrong.

“Donald and Ted are the only candidates who have demonstrated their devotion to assisting and joining Israel in its defense.”

Not true.

Carson has on his website:

Stand by Israel, Our Bulwark Middle East Ally
https://www.bencarson.com/issues/israel

“The United States of America has had a special relationship with Israel ever since we were the very first nation to recognize her creation. The depth of our unique bond with Israel has only strengthened over the years.”

And I believe Walker is going to Israel soon.

I imagine most all the others have pledge their support to Israel.

Cruz and Paul voted for the Corker deal which takes away the constitutional right of the Senate to stop the Iran Nuke treaty with a simple majority.
