Trump University was a scam, say former students

Do you remember Trump University? Probably not – it didn’t really catch on. And one big reason it didn’t catch on is because it was a total scam, say a slew of former students in complaints that were filed to the Federal Trade Commission and were recently unearthed by a Freedom of Information Act request from Gizmodo, writes Ethan Wolff-Mann for TIME.

It is not only former students who have called into question the legitimacy of Trump University, which was founded in 2005. The New York Department of Education sent Trump a letter in 2010, accusing the operation of misleading students and misuse of the word ‘university’. Soon thereafter, the operation was renamed the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative.

In 2013, the New York Attorney General’s office filed a US$40 million lawsuit against the former reality star and current Republican presidential candidate for failing to impart the promised real estate education to 5,000 students and subjecting prospective students to high-pressure sales tactics.

The MSM has created Trump, and are working hard to keep his campaign alive.

If they wanted to harm him, all they would have to do is treat him the same way they treat Cruz, Carson, and Rubio. (ignore him, give him no face time)

Without the MSM, nobody would know Trump even exists.

.
TRumpets are all living in deep delusion.

The same article has a link showing that the NY AG was using the threat of a suit as a means of extorting campaign contributions. (give me money or youze might have an “accidental” law suit...)

LOL!

That’s the old Clinton dodge - very fitting that you should use it to defend your Trumpie love.

Old news is factual.

It always needs to be brought to the forefront.

I wasn’t sure if Time was allowed. The story is out on several sites, though.

All attack, all the time, no debate.

Buzz off. You’re old news, as well.

Trump creates ratings. The MSM is NOT covering him out of the goodness of their little hearts.

Trump University was no more of a scam than the classes that are offered in public colleges and universities.

Disproving your assertion!

They cannot harm him and cover him so heavily at the same time.

He’s helping their Girl, and that’s all they care about.

My only point was that the whole Trump U. question was thoroughly aired away back when. At that time the students aired their beef, and Trump stated his rebuttal. IMHO, this feverous, desperate digging it up again is scraping the bottom of the barrel pretty hard. But keep on scraping.

3.) Trump wants a strong foreign policy and believes that it must include 7 core principles:

a. American interests come first. Always. No apologies.

b. Maximum firepower and military preparedness.

c. Only go to war to win.

d. Stay loyal to your friends and suspicious of your enemies.

e. Keep the technological sword razor sharp.

f.See the unseen. Prepare for threats before they materialize.

g. Respect and support our present and past warriors.

4.) Trump believes that captured terrorists should be treated as military combatants, not as criminals, which is the treatment they receive from the Obama administration.

5.) Trump makes the point that China’s manipulation of its currency has given them unfair advantage in our trade dealings with them. He says we must tax their imports to offset their currency manipulation, which will cause American companies to be competitive again, drive manufacturing back to America and create jobs here. Although he sees China as the biggest offender, he believes that America should protect itself from all foreign efforts to take our jobs and manufacturing. For example, Ford is building a plant in Mexico and Trump suggests that every part or vehicle Ford makes there be taxed 35% if they want to bring it into the U. S. This would cause companies like Ford to no longer be competitive when using their Mexican operations. They would therefore move manufacturing back to the U. S. where jobs would once again be created.

6.) Trump favors passage of NOPEC legislation (No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels Act – NOPEC – S.394), which would allow the government to sue OPEC for violating antitrust laws. According to Trump, that would break up the cartel. He also wants to unleash our energy companies to drill domestically (sound like Sarah Palin’s drill baby, drill?) thereby increasing domestic production, creating jobs and driving domestic costs of oil and gas down while reducing dependence on foreign oil.

7.) Trump believes a secure border is critical for both security and prosperity in America. He wants to build a wall to stop illegals from entering and help put controls on immigration. (And he says he’ll get Mexico to pay for the wall, which many have scoffed at, but given his business successes I wouldn’t put it past him.) He also wants to enforce our immigration laws and provide no path to citizenship for illegals other than that which is currently included in the law.

8.) Trump wants a radical change to the tax system to not only make it better for average Americans, but also to encourage businesses to stay here and foreign businesses to move here. The resulting influx of money would do wonders for our economy. He wants to make America the place to do business. He also wants to lower the death tax and the taxes on capital gains and dividends. This would put more than $1.6 trillion back into the economy and help replace the 1.5 million jobs we’ve lost to the current tax system.

You have it backwards. Donald Trump created his own celebrity. The media did not do it of their own volition, the media was simply a tool used by Donald Trump to grow his businesses, enhance his wealth, and enjoy his money.

I never heard of Trump University. However, look at all the people who signed up for the University of Phoenix and wasted thousands and thousands of government money to take their useless courses. None that I know of ever got a job from that so-called university. I know a woman who never graduated high school and yet holds some type of master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. I’m not so sure this was Trump’s university, maybe he just lent his name to it. Who cares? It’s a non issue to me. And, there is an art to flipping houses. I know people who do it - but it takes capital to invest. It’s very lucrative too.

I heard that Trump once left the toilet seat up in a restroom in an airport. There will be a 2-hour documentary on CNN going into all the gruesome details.

If the MSM created Trump they made a big mistake...

The MSM predicted Trump would fail... many times. After each non PC comment, the press - in unison would say, 'he's finished'. Remember that after the debate? After his comment about McCain... after his comment about Rosie... after his comment about illegals, after his comment about anchor babies, after his run-in with Jorge?

The list goes on and on...

The press did their opposition research, their PC weirdness, their jokes and Trump still stands.

Something's different.

“Without the MSM, nobody would know Trump even exists.”

Actually, IMO, the advantage that Trump has over all the GOP candidates, and every Rat candidate not named PIOPS, is that everyone already knows his name. Even the low info. voters know who he is. His name recognition is huge. The MSM is just adding on to that recognition total.

And once in kindergarten, he traded an apple with some kid for a candy bar... and failed to report that barter transaction to the IRS!
