He could probably get away from the blind trust, he can't get around the financial disclosure.

MARCO RUBIO AND TED CRUZ DIFFER ON IMMIGRATION

Cruz, who served as Texas' solicitor general before winning his Senate seat in 2012, has become one of the most vocal critics of the Gang of Eight bill, which he voted against Tuesday. He says allowing unauthorized immigrants to get citizenship is unfair to the millions of people who have waited years, and sometimes decades, applying for green cards.

"If there's a pathway to citizenship ... that is inconsistent with the rule of law," Cruz said Tuesday. "It's unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who have followed the rules, who have waited in line years and sometimes decades to come. And ... if the pathway to citizenship is included in legislation that Congress passes, it will serve only to encourage yet more illegal immigration."

Ted Cruz on Fox with Megyn Kelly ...

We are unfortunately witnessing a constitutional crisis. What President Obama's doing is he is defying the law, he's defying the constitution. You know, the President quite rightly said just a few weeks ago his policies were on the ballot all over the country. This last election was a referendum on amnesty. And the American people overwhelmingly rose up and said, no, we don't want lawless amnesty. And I'm sorry to say President Obama's reaction is defiant. And it is angry with the American people. And if the President goes forward with this, if he goes forward unilaterally defying the Congress elected by the people, defying the American voters, then it's incumbent on Republicans in Congress to use every single constitutional tool we have to defend the rule of law to reign in a president so the president does not become an unaccountable monarch imposing his own policies in defiance of the American people. This is a moment of testing. And I am hopeful we will see Republicans in Congress stand up and side with the people against the lawless president.

U.S. News & World Report article

Ted Cruz Seeks to Ban Illegal Immigrants in U.S. from Citizenship

As Solicitor General of Texas in 2011 ...Ted Cruz on Immigration:

SG [Solicitor General] Cruz states that he supports valid US immigration laws and opposes amnesty. In July of 2011, SG stated in an interview with Conservatives in Action that he opposed the DREAM Act. He also stated that he was categorically opposed to amnesty.

In an interview with Right Wing News in 2011, SG Cruz stated that in a post 9-11 world we have to enforce the border. He also noted the differences between legal and illegal immigration.

In a July 2011 interview with BattleSwarm Blog, SG Cruz stated that he strongly opposed to illegal immigration and categorically opposed amnesty. He noted that this included the so-called "paths to citizenship."

Oh, Fantasywriter, quit whining about attacks and broadsides. I thought Freepers had thicker skins. You keep harping on what Cruz would think of us, have us do, etc. I can't seem to get it through to you that supporting a candidate doesn't mean we're puppets.

As far as alienation goes, I find that highly ironic. How many people do you think Trump supporters have turned off with their naked worship---comparing him to Churchill, Reagan, OT prophets, William Wallace, and Jesus?

How many do you think have been sickened by the posts calling for Trump to be installed as a dictator, for him to govern by illegal executive order, and for the Constitution to be pushed aside?

Cruz has a long history of rejecting illegal immigration.

Just from "On the Issues" website we see this:

Cruz is the only candidate I have donated to, but I support both him and Trump. I'll go with either one. I do NOT trust ANY of the other candidates.

Being honest Cruz disappointed me 3 times: Corker Iran bill vote, TPA vote, and supported for vastly increase legal, H1B visas.

But I still send him money quarterly.

Among other things, I want to dismantle the GOP-E. Either Cruz or Trump will accomplish that, in my opinion.

By the way, I am one who supports both Cruz and Trump.

I did not say I supported it. I said I would not judge her because that is God’s job and it is. There are many things I do not think are Christ like but it is not my job to judge them. For instance, I was brought up in a family which did not drink. That was the way my parents, grandparents, etc were brought up. We just do not like it but that did not give us the right to judge others who do. The others may have done sinful things too, but we just do not know about them. We are electing a President not his family. Carter was elected not his brother although some think “we” elected the wrong brother.

The results of my own research gave me more doubts re Cruz and the foreign invasions and the wall than reassurance. It is simply inexplicable, however, that not one single Cruz supporter will cite even one of his best/strongest statements re the invading horde. Usually people are only too happy to quote their candidate. In this case, some level of blame must be disingenuously ascribed to me, simply for asking.

Once the invaders get green cards they will first vote, then be awarded citizenship. It’s how the left works, through incrementalism.

Even Jeb says the border must be secured. The question is how.

Fine. Ignore Cruz’ intelligent approach to Trump and his supporters. I’m sure both he and you are good with single digit support, so there is no need to persuade others to join the cause. Insulting them instead is, after all, so much more gratifying.

Thank you for citing that Cruz supports the wall. I had not seen that anywhere until you posted.

Every one who meets him in person comes away liking him. That is the definition of charisma.

What I find remarkable is that a Brooklyn-born and -raised person (or was it Queens?), acculturated in the brash, ungenteel mores of that part of the world, would be so warmly received by, e.g., South Carolinians and Iowans, et al. — historically people of very gracious mores. The cultural differences are truly stark. The only explanation that I can think of for The Donald's seeming ease in rising above this cultural divide is his personal charisma. People believe him when he says he wants to make America great again. That's what Trump supporters want, too.

And it seems many people doubt that Jeb! would make America great again. He's regarded as too much of a GOP insider, and the GOP has disgraced itself with a significant portion of its constituents for its absolutely supine, feckless, inane performance since the last congressional election, which produced Republican majorities in both houses of Congress. The people who voted to make this happen thought that — at last! — something could now be done to reverse Obama Administration policies designed to undermine American interests here at home and abroad.

These people are mad as hell that this did not happen. These are mainly the same people who do not trust Jeb!. They view him as a paid-for tool of GOP establishment interests.

It seems to me the "dynasty problem" is the least of his worries. For not only does he lack charisma; but I think The Donald was entirely correct to describe him as lacking in "energy." Moreover, he is a man who comes across as someone who is not "comfortable in his own skin."

Plus I think he must be utterly lacking in judgment to engage, attack The Donald directly, as he has started to do over the past few days. It just makes him look "whiney" — it makes him look defensive, not "in charge" of the situation. It's amusing that The Donald has co-opted Jeb! into spending all his time talking about The Donald. This only gets The Donald even more "earned" media coverage. Meanwhile, Jeb! doesn't get a chance to talk about "his" issues....

I'd guess that Jeb! is being outfoxed by The Donald....

Hot up the popcorn, folks. There's yet a long way to go to November 2016.

The vast majority of Trump’s supporters do not want any of the craziness you mentioned—a dictatorship, for instance. And the approach must be working ok, since Trump still has a wide lead in the polls.

.....”The Donald’s seeming ease in rising above this cultural divide is his personal charisma. People believe him when he says he wants to make America great again. That’s what Trump supporters want, too.”.......

Trump’s newfound “conservatism” is also awfully easy. He harps on a few issues he knows can rile up the Right, and plays to people tired of political correctness (even when what he says is factually incorrect).

Reagan talked about the greatness of America; Trump talks about the greatness of Trump—and how great America could be, if only he were in charge...... Trump quotes… Trump.....
Trump thinks government will be how we get to greatness—as long as he’s running it.

Reagan said the world’s biggest lie was “I’m from the government and I’m here to help,”.... Trump promises that when he is running things the government will be here to help.

Trump rides a line trying to be Reaganbbut not even close.

Thanks. I thought he did. It was in two stages, though, and you were probably thinking of the first stage when he came out with a public release. We were told at the time that was not the official form. At that time they were correct. But he came back later with the official form, and I think an extra billion in assets. LOL.
