A Long Island educator says he was labeled a racist and fired for enforcing academic eligibility requirements for student athletes. Students who are failing two or more classes are ineligible for sports, teacher Robert Cincotta, who served as athletic director for the predominantly black Hempstead school district between 2005 and 2013, said in a Brooklyn federal lawsuit. In February 2013, he began checking grades for all the kids participating in winter sports in the district, such as basketball, wrestling and indoor track, and informing coaches of who would not be allowed to play, Cincotta, who is white, says in court papers. The effort prompted a call from the superintendent’s assistant, who slammed him as a “racist” and told him he was “trying to hurt black kids,” Cincotta alleges. By May 2013, school officials told Cincotta, who began working in Hempstead schools in 1985, that his job had been eliminated for “economic reasons,” although the district continued to hire new employees, he claims. Cincotta is seeking unspecified damages in his discrimination claim against the district, which declined to comment.

We lowered them over fifty years ago.
Standards are racist?
Lowered standards 50 years ago, now 75% of blacks grow up in single parent homes and we have cRap music. The soft bigotry of low expectations.
Rules are weapons to be used against people who have standards.
If you have no standards at all, then you may safely ignore all the rules.

NOT enforcing academic standards for athletics is racist. You are assuming that minority kids aren’t capable of passing and setting them up for failure in life without a proper education. Few make it to the big league in sports.

So a learning institution punished a coach for holding his athlete’s feet to the fire to make sure they were being educated and he gets axed, eh? Sounds like they just wanted him to rubberstamp the star athlete’s grades so they could go onto universites on scholarships on scholarships. Seems like I remember something about high schools being given some type of signing bonus for their star athletes when they went onto universities. He might find something if he digs around in that boneyard.

I recently viewed a documentary on the connections of big time drug dealers to rap music.
Dealers put their money into ‘night clubs’ and put their ‘buddies’ into the shows doing rap.
Sort of like the rumors of the mafia ties to casinos/nightclubs and big name singers.
Only those singers had talent and good song writers.
You’re right. One of the reasons black students leave urban schools without a decent education is because racist teachers and administrators don’t care whether black kids learn or not.

It's called 'leveling the playing fields' ... look around you, look at the nation....everything is geared for the low level student...keeping the Socialist plantations voting Democrat/Progressive/Socialist.

Many of us remember REAL musicians, white, black or otherwise who actually composed MUSIC.
It’s racist to make sure students can read and perform basic math.
Ending the twin evils of literacy and mathematics is what Common Core is about.
