So both local issues under local control and can be fixed if desired by local government and the will of the people to elect their representatives.

Not the same issue is it?

Take every battle won as a win and don’t give up the war.

"So both local issues under local control and can be fixed if desired by local government and the will of the people to elect their representatives."(?)

Not certain of the question but if I think it is a yes/no. I think such issues should be determined by our Congress; not our President.

President Abraham Lincoln has been on our one cent coin since 1909, replacing the Indian Head design. You don't hear of a plea to restore it to the Indian Head design because of sensitivity to our Native American people.

The Lincoln Five Dollar Bill was issued in 1914 after several variations with featuring other historical figures. I give you one variation:

This one is of Running Antelope, who was the head chief of the Hunkpapa in 1851. This particular five dollar bill was issued in 1899.

Now, I ask you, how can the federal government determine what is on our currency? Should it be controlled by the will of the people or, a President who thinks he knows the will of the people? So, what if President Obama, instead, changed the one cent coin back to the Indian Head and changed the five dollar bill back to the Running Antelope version? I bet you would cry "That's not right!"

In the case of the name Mt. McKinley and the image of Lincoln on our currency, both have been used for over 100 years. That 100 years of tradition that has, and may go into the dumpster of history because of the drug induced whim of a President. That's not right! It should be determined by the will of the people through our elected representatives.

In my book, a mountain named "Tall" does not measure up to the prominence of a mountain named after one of our assassinated Presidents. Your sentimentality over the name Denali (that means "tall") is not considering that it has a insignificant meaning in comparison to a President who gave his life to his country.

It is time the Alaskan Denalists get a sober look at what just has happened to our American heritage. What's the Koyukon name for small? Naggudza? The Denalists are being naggudza.

I didn’t suggest a separate referendum, but putting the question on the next general election ballot, I don’t see why that should cost any significant amount of money?

But whatever forgrt that, sounds to me that it’s purview of Congress to change the name of national landmarks, not Obama, he’s abusing his office, again. I refuse to not be bothered by that.

I see such issues to be determine by the people of the State, not by any branch of the Federal Government.

Now you want to move to discussing currency. Start another thread. That isn't this topic.
