Jeb pushes back on Trump comments: Mexican immigration rate ‘basically flat’
The Hill ^ | 8/30/15 | Mark Hensch

Former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) said on Sunday that GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is mistaken for blaming the immigration crisis on Mexico.

Bush added that most of the nation’s influx of illegal immigrants is actually coming from Central America instead.

“Right now the number of Mexicans crossing the border is basically flat,” he told host John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on AM 970 in New York. “The immigrants that are crossing legally or illegally in both cases are from Central America now,” he said. “It changes.”

“What shouldn’t change is our commitment to respecting the rule of law and our commitment to support the security of our borders,” added Bush, another Republican White House hopeful in 2016.

Bush argued on Sunday that Trump’s immigration platform would be too costly and impractical.

“What Donald Trump is proposing is a wall that can’t be built, and if it was, it would cost hundreds of billions of dollars,” he said, citing Trump’s call for a wall on America’s border with Mexico.

“He wants everyone deported, which would tear family lives asunder,” Bush said. “It would probably be unconstitutional.”

“It’s not conservative and it’s not realistic and it does not embrace American values,”

Jeb is claiming that, since Mexican illegal immigration is basically flat at the same unacceptable rate as last year and the year before, that’s okay? If he thought a little, Jeb would figure out why decent Americans consider him Jeb unacceptable.

I say we propose a deal. We give them absolute right to move to southern california (and nowhere else). In exhange, they completely clear out every last citzen from say, honduras, and allow unrestricted migration to honduras to non diverse americans.

Do it legally or don’t come. That’s what he doesn’t get.

Jeb just doesn't care about that. That's why he said “The immigrants that are crossing legally or illegally..." He lumped the legals in with the illegals. They are all the same to him.

I have watched a few videos of a Jeb rally. The people that actually show up look bored and never smile. You couldn’t pay me to sit through one of those Jeb rallies.

What a total downer.

Think of what it would be like with Jeb as the nominee.

Whether or not it’s true that most present illegal immigrants are from Central America (debatable), that doesn’t change the fact that 10s of millions of Mexican illegals are in the US taking jobs, having babies, collecting welfare, and committing crimes.

Hey Jeb, you don’t know what you are talking about. The Mexican government not only gives the illegals pamphlets to help them out in their journeys, and it has allowed thousands of people to cross its own boundaries on top of trains. So don’t tell us they are innocent. Had they been crossing on foot from Guatemala or El Salvador, they would have been stopped. If any Republicans had any sense at all they would merely ask that we have an immigration system like the one Mexico has.

Yeah, the immigration rate is flat. They've been flooding in full tilt for 5 decades now, so they are starting to run out of invaders. plus only so many of them at a time can fit in the river.

Yeb! is sounding more presidential every day now. Presidential as in like the current one! How is it any better being LIED TO by a dhim than by a reprat?

Go research and you will find, Mexico allows illegals from other countries to travel through Mexico as long as they do NOT stay in Mexico. On the way, they take whatever they can from them. Get your facts straight. You are a liberal troll.

There were some articles about a month ago that about 25% of the Mexican population are on OUR side of the border already.

That is 25% we are taking care of because Mexico isn’t.

The magnitude of Yeb’s tone deafness is practically stupefying. The issue isn’t the national competition of the invaders, but the fact that we want them stopped, no matter where they come from.

This is what I get for sleeping through all of those Geography classes back in grade school some 45-odd years ago. I must’ve missed the class about Central America bordering the United States.

Well dayum! That must be some pretty powerful trebuchets they're using to fling them illegals all the way from Central America to America!

And they're all coming across the Mexican border. What is wrong with this guy? No wonder Hillary is rooting for him.

Whenever I see or hear this, it makes me spitting mad. Talking about tearing apart families!

Wasn’t the Steinle family torn apart when their beautiful daughter was gunned down by an illegal?! How about any other family when they lost a member because an illegal ran over them while drunk?! Or when a family member is shot dead by a home invasion by an illegal?!

These politicians need a good two-by-four to the head.
