Aside from his being anti-war, I don't see the point of the criticisms.

I never understood all the hate directed towards Hawkeye on MASH.

It was a SITCOM, and a very funny one.

The Hawkeye character hated the war because he was a small town civilian doctor and got drafted and sent to Korea. I can totally understand why he hated the war.

I watched MASH as a kid and even I understood that.

And also, soldiers and civilians were wounded, maimed, and killed.

It's extremely funny; they got a lot of great writers involved.
