Relying on my memory here, I believe a witness may have been quoted as such in the early aftermath. Regardless it was obviously hyperbole as a modicum of common sense would ascertain.

An example of how they misrepresent the facts inorder to generate clicks. They put the quotation marks around their misleading excerption to make it look authentic.. DUH. Here is their headline. It clearly says 14 officers fired thousands and killed nine. Speaks for itself.

Memory check! If you dig into the link they provided you will find that they are sourcing the lawsuit by Don Carlos restaurant which says (paraphrased) bikers and police fire thousands of shots. Pure lawyer hyperbole but notice how CTH leaves out ‘bikers’.

Use of excerpted quotation marks leads the reader to believe that one is passing along correct information when in fact they have deliberately passed alone INCORRECT and misleading information.
