I am going to be in Texas for work next week in the Piney Woods between Rusk and Palestine, staying in Jacksonville. I am going to try and get an early quit on September 3rd to come up and support Senator Cruz in Tyler. Any Freepers in the Tyler area going?

I will try like to make it... no guarantees, though... but even if I run late, it would be cool to at least get together for dinner somewhere in the area with people that I might get along with... though I find I get along with EVERYONE in Texas! Hahaha!

"...staying in Jacksonville"

The town was dubbed "tomato capitol of the world." One of the best men I ever knew was from Jacksonville. He was buried there when he passed away. I have the good fortune to have his sweet daughter as my sister in law.

I just looked at the calendar and MrD has an appointment with his cardiologist late that afternoon. I am not sure we could make it up there in time. I would love to hear him in person.

I’m not for sure I can make it either, but will try.

You’d think he could spend more than 1 day here.

There’re more voters in the DFW area than in the entire state of Iowa.

If you were on the road by 6pm you should make it. It’s only about 40 miles,
max from the Med. Center. Not sure where you are leaving but traffic should be
starting to ease up by that time.

@Redbob on why Ted doesn’t spend more time in TX:

Texas will most probably go Cruz in TX, and he has home field advantage over Trump. Perry is pretty much out of it.

Iowa is a different story, and is crucial to the initial thrust of the campaign to do well there and in New Hampshire prior to the SEC primary, which happen well before Texas. That’s why he’s concentrating there.

In addition, Ted has an excellent field operation in DFW which should secure his position.

To the rest of the thread:
I expect to eat breakfast around 7:30, then wait around for a good seat or space as close as security will let me. Hope to meet many of you there!

Earlier on this day, Ted Cruz stayed after his Ft. Worth speech for quite as while, and shook hands with hundreds of well wishers. He had a very tight schedule that day, with speeches also in Tyler and Kingwood.

What made it so special was that the event had to be moved from the Stampede Room to an outside pavilion. People stayed in the sweltering Texas heat a long time to get a chance for brief seconds with Senator Cruz. During the wait, some thought they would faint, but just then a very helpful strong breeze was there to revive us. And yes, it was worth the wait.
