I’m a business analyst. Did you know that Business requirements are going from hundreds of pages of text to “cartoons” interspersed with text? It’s because a picture is worth a thousand words.

Are you referring to UML? If so, it's not just developers who love it. A well done UML diagram is easily understood by business users (at least, the ones I deal with) and everyone from our business requirements analysts, business users, developers, infrastructure architecture, engineering and operations folks absolutely love it. Even our Project Managers and Internal Audit folks love it.
I've lived in all those worlds, now I make my bread and butter doing business and IT process optimization as I've "lived" in just about every part of the bank and UML fits perfectly in that world too.
I was introduced and learned UML back in 2003 at version 2. Been using it since.
The But trolls are another version of the Concern Trolls. Or their cousins.
UML is part of it. We use Visio, iRise and other tools for all sorts of graphic representations of requirements.
Everyone is a visual learner. It’s how human beings work. When people can easily visualize a solution they know when they have found it.
I think the word “troll” often can be interpreted to mean: Person who shares an opinion with which you disagree.
Visio I've been using since waaaaaaay back before Microsoft owned it .. iRise is something new I'm going to have to go look up, thanks for that! :-)
Pretty funny. That’s what I say about Visio. Just like you said it. I was using it at blue cross in Lynnwood back in the mid 90’s. :-)
iRise allows you to create wireframes that actually have rudimentary functionality and you can attach text requirements to them.
In reading cuban leaf’s post, I believe he was speaking in the spiritual mode. Unless I’ve missed my guess, the ‘strong man’ he refers to is a world leader who will promise to set things aright and bring peace...for a time. I believe we refer to him as “the Anti-Christ”.
