I don't believe making the point that he is a liberal equates to trashing him, and his history proves he is just that. I do agree with you on one point, though, that he is out for himself. Most liberals are.

Is there any other candidate who has been as articulate re the devastating toll the illegal invaders are taking on both US citizens and on the country as a whole? Is any other viable candidate staking their candidacy on a wall—the only practical way to halt the invasion effectively.

You may not think that your opinion that he is a liberal, is not trashing, however, it is to those who support him 110%. You just drive them to 120% support.
