So this brings me to my question. Knowing that Trump is apolitical, what difference does it make what party affiliation he chose.

Would you still support Donald Trump if he was running as a Democrat?

No.

Because then I wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt.

A Republican might sincerely change his poistion on an issue, as might a Dummocrat. But then the D would change parties, because there is only one “big tent” party, and it ain’t the party of Obama.

A Republican might insincerely change his mind on a issue just to get votes, as might a Dhimmicrat. But my calculation is that he would be more likely to dance with girl that brung him, once elected, than the D would. It’s chancy, though.

Either one might lie through their teeth.

I rate the R’s as somewhat less than twice as likely to be telling the truth as the D’s.

Ya got to play the probabilities, hold your nose, and vote for the one you think is most likely to agree with you on the most or most important (immigration this time) issue(s).

So, unless Jeb gets the nomination, I will probably vote R, regardless. It’s not certain, though. I’ve never been disappointed with our R presidents, because I never expected much of them. Just hoped that I could.

I would vote for Trump if he were nominated depending on his opponent. If he were a D running against Jeb Bush, YEP. If he were a D running against Cruz, Walker, Paul or Ben Carson, NOPE.

And he ...

- was just as politically incorrect
- was pro gun
- calls anchor babies anchor babies and wants to end that
- want to build the great Trump wall and end illegal immigration
- was anti-abortion
- was anti the Iran deal
- got in the media’s face
- wanted to make America great again (as we understand what that means)
- wouldn’t put up with the the type of crap BLM pull (Jorge Ramos)
- ...

then yes, I would.

That is an unreasonable question because it assumes that Trjump would have the same kind of success as now. Everything Trump is saying is so undemocrat that I doubt he would have the same success.

But if he did I definitely would.

I don’t support him now, if he were to win the nomination I would probably vote with less enthusiasm than I had for Dole, McCain or Romney. I would not vote for him as a democrat. Trump vs. Jeb, I would vote down ticket. I do not trust The Donald, his whole history is saying what people want to hear and I’ll give him that, he’s certainly doing it now. We don’t need another President ruling by executive fiat, especially with a GOP to weak to oppose him.

If Palin and Cruz were running as democrats, would you support them?

Proof positive that there is such a thing as a less than astute question

Your meme ignores all the really really big differences of a Dim campaign and what he's doing. If he were running as a Dim, he would be truly unelectable.

You didn’t mention what is probably the most important point;

would he be saying the very same things, same positions, issue the identical immigration paper, everything the same, with a D behind his name instead of an R?

Ceteris parabus, I would consider it. But all other things would not be equal if Trump was running as a democrat, so it's an unanswerable question.

” Would you still support Donald Trump if he was running as a Democrat? “ -—————

THAT is an excellent question. Should Trump go down there is Cruz, so that is a factor here, in my answer.

But, speaking for myself, usually the answer has to be “NO”, because any given Democrat is always at the mercy his donors, as are Republicans, and of their Pelosi styled DNC, and also the Wall Street pals who put him in place, and who would support Pelosi/Reid style candidates, and would place in position a sycophant cabinet.

None of that applies to Donald Trump as a “Democrat” candidate.

Given what Trump has said and the awakening he has brought, because he is independent, both financially and intellectually, I might wait awhile to support him, but yes, I could consider supporting Trump as a Democrat, early next year, all things remaining the same as today.

Next?

Trumps’ immigration policies are the same as the Democrat’s 1996 platform statements (which sound pretty good, really).

For me I vote conservative and if the choice were a conservative Democrat against a pro-abort, pro-gay, pro-illegal alien Republican I’d vote for the conservative.

I’m a Republican because I’m a conservative. If they change then so will I.

Imagine a Cruz (R) v Trump (D) race. I’d support the heck out of both, celebrating a victory party every day of the runup to election day.

I imagine Trump is kicking himself now for sliding into the crowded Republican race instead of the Democratic race ... Sure Trump is enjoying a double digit percentage lead in the Repub polls, but imagine his ratings (75%? 85%?) if he ran basically unopposed as a Democrat?

What a silly start to a silly hypothetical. Trump is polling between 25 and 40% in this crowded field. Why in the world would be "kicking himself"? Absurd.

As far as the question goes, it is equally absurd. Why not ask whether Cruz supporters would support him if he ran as a Democrat? It makes as much sense. The primary focus of Trump's campaign thus far has been to get rid of illegal "immigration", and also close the anchor baby loophole. This would be just as toxic for Trump in the Democratic primary, as Cruz' philosophy would be.

While many conservatives probably would vote for Trump in a Democratic primary, they would be part of the minority of Democratic primary voters.

As I said, silly, and pointless, hypothetical, more befitting of Fox News than a quality political site such as FR.

What a stupid question. Democrats don’t campaign on the need for a border wall. They do NOT speak of the illegal invaders as rapists and murderers. They would die before admitting that not only has Obama decimated the military, but that it needs to be rebuilt—and that will be a major priority of the new administration.

Drop the Trump hatred long enough to be rational. The Dems love illegals and hate the military. They also love Obama, and Trump has been brutally critical of him as well. Finally, Dems don’t appear alongside Cruz to condemn Obama’s Iran deal.

Get a grip.
