America Is So in Play (Go Trump)
WSJ ^ | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 08/28/2015 5:20:33 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Something is going on, some tectonic plates are moving in interesting ways. My friend Cesar works the deli counter at my neighborhood grocery store. He is Dominican, an immigrant, early 50s, and listens most mornings to a local Hispanic radio station, La Mega, on 97.9 FM. Their morning show is the popular “El Vacilón de la Mañana,” and after the first GOP debate, Cesar told me, they opened the lines to call-ins, asking listeners (mostly Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican) for their impressions. More than half called in to say they were for Mr. Trump. Their praise, Cesar told me a few weeks ago, dumbfounded the hosts. I later spoke to one of them, who identified himself as D.J. New Era. He backed Cesar’s story. “We were very surprised,” at the Trump support, he said. Why? “It’s a Latin-based market!”

“He’s the man,” Cesar said of Mr. Trump. This week I went by and Cesar told me that after Mr. Trump threw Univision’s well-known anchor and immigration activist, Jorge Ramos, out of an Iowa news conference on Tuesday evening, the “El Vacilón” hosts again threw open the phone lines the following morning and were again surprised that the majority of callers backed not Mr. Ramos but Mr. Trump. Cesar, who I should probably note sees me, I sense, as a very nice establishment person who needs to get with the new reality, was delighted.

I said: Cesar, you’re supposed to be offended by Trump, he said Mexico is sending over criminals, he has been unfriendly, you’re an immigrant. Cesar shook his head: No, you have it wrong. Immigrants, he said, don’t like illegal immigration, and they’re with Mr. Trump on anchor babies.

People like a strong horse. It is universal. Why would anyone want to be ruled by a metrosexual apologist when they can pick a winner?

Nooner had no clue that an immigrant could possibly for Trump. Probably the first person she had met who liked him.

Pray America is waking

But, but, I thought Pitbull (hispanic DJ) didn’t like Trump.

Shows to go you what happens when you don’t pander and do what is right, for America.

Machismo trumps milquetoast.

That’s why, while we dislike Putin’s ideology and his inclinations, we appreciate his machismon, his love of country and what he’s willing to do to promote its interests.

I know a lot of Hispanics and they think similarly. I did not get to read all of the article and don;t know if Noonan mentioned it, but the Hispanic culture, particularly Mexican males, are attracted to the notion of leadership embodied in a strong “jeffe” (boss) and patron personage.....but not in a subservient sense. Trump gets that notion over very well.

Legals know that a huge percentage of the illegals flowing over are associated with the cartels and gangs...

and it is they who suffer first from that activity.

I’m surprised the uniparty, which includes Peggy, decided to publish this. What gives? I couldn’t read the whole article because it’s protected behind the paywall, so I’m wondering if it bashes Trump and his Hispanic supporters.

Nearly all the “legal” hispanic immergrants I know HATE illegals. They see them as taking their jobs, and undercutting them on bids.

Makes sense. I’m Irish and am certainly no fan of all the illegal Irish who start turning up here everytime Socialism manages to tank the economy over there.

No. She says that Hispanics have called into Spanish-language radio and TV networks saying they support Trump, saying legal immigrants opposed illegal immigrants. Majority of calls favor Trump, she reports.

If you copy the title of the article & paste it into your browser, then click on it when it shows up in the results, you can see the whole article. I don’t know why this works, but it does every time for me.

It’s a really good article - you should read the whole thing. It confirms what I’ve been thinking & hearing - Trump is not a flash in the pan.

“Nearly all the “legal” Hispanic immigrants I know HATE illegals.”
Maybe, but isn’t the ratio of illegals to legals about 10 to 1?
I have no idea what the numbers are, but I don’t know anyone from Mexico who did not break an immigration regulation at some point, even if they are now a US citizen. On the other hand I don’t know all the details about very many immigrants.

In the Jamaican, Dominican and African communities, they hate American blacks and say everything they worked their butts off for when coming to America, American blacks expect it as a perk for their vote.

This is nice to know. I think Trump will draw dems to vote for him also. Strong leadership is so needed. The GOP does not know how to lead and the democrat party has turned so ugly, it’s offensive. Trump is not in either of those camps.. and just maybe middle America is taking notice.
