The inoffensive everyday phrases used by reporter Alison Parker that earned her a death sentence...
Daily Mail ^ | August 28, 2015 | Wills Robinsom

Innocuous phrases Alison Parker used every day to describe her job may have led to her death, simply because Vester Lee Flanagan thought they were racist.

The 24-year-old TV reporter who was shot and killed by the disgruntled ex-employee on Wednesday somehow angered him by using terms like 'swinging' by an address or going out into the 'field' while she was an intern at WDBJ.

It sheds further light on the murderer's erratic behavior, details of which have emerged since he callously gunned down Parker and cameraman Adam Ward live on breakfast TV.

Flanagan, 41, clashed repeatedly with photojournalists, belittling them in public and intimidating them with his aggressive and violent temper, before he was fired in 2013.

But now colleagues have revealed his assumptions were 'crazy' and even described one occasion where he believed someone bringing a watermelon in for fellow staff was a racist joke directed at him. They were included in a complaint filed by Flanagan while Parker was working at the Roanoke, Virginia, station in 2012.

The report, seen by the New York Post, that was written by news editor Greg Baldwin read: 'One was something about 'swinging' by some place; the other was out in the 'field'.'

Parker, who was referred to by her middle name as Bailey in the documents, was never disciplined for the remarks.

But they appear to be the 'racist' comments Flanagan was referring to when he Tweeted in the aftermath of the deadly shooting.

Ryan Fuqua, a video editor at WDBJ, told The Post: 'That's how that guy's mind worked. Just crazy, left-field assumptions like that.'

'He was unstable. One time, after one of our live shots failed, he threw all his stuff down and ran into the woods for like 20 minutes.'

This is how these kind of people wind up being described as normal.

Exactly ... he was a "typical leftist activist" ... I hope America thinks on that for a minute.

The leftists’ academics have pushed “microaggressions,” innocuous words and statements that in a sane world would be innocent of any nefarious intent to the point of idiocy, and racialists use it to justify their thin-skinned petulance.

Leftist academics bear a lot of responsibility for these murders.

We have an unstable crazy guy at our office

I left my last job because of the same situation. I was specifically told that the person was not fire-able.

So, I quit. The place is falling apart, because all of the other decent people left as well (there are other factors, not just this single crazy guy). But I was the first rock in the avalanche.

Do I feel responsible for the business? Maybe a little, but my primary responsibility is to myself and my family. No job is worth getting shot by some nutcase.

I'm still a little concerned that he'll show up in my driveway, one evening. Fortunately, he's the lazy type, and driving out to my house would likely be too much effort for him.

No way she could know.

Every member of an aggrieved victim group has to be treated as a potential time bomb. If things in your sphere are getting difficult, remember the words of Hunter Thompson; "When the going gets tough, the weird turn pro".

Understandable.

I don’t know if a similar law in VA would have helped in this case, but it might have. We, here in FL, are very familiar with the Baker Act and its uses. It has even become a verb.....................

“that indoctrination and incitement to hate and violence has been around a lot longer than 0bama has, but 0bama has been throwing gasoline on the fire for the last 6 years.”

True, but it has gotten much worse lately. It was bad enough when the message was coming from jokes like Sharpton and Jackson, but having messages of hate and racial grievance coming from a President of the US gives them much greater credibility and authority.

Funny you should mention that. At one of his previous jobs it was reported that he became angry that a coworker had brought in a watermelon for everyone to share, and he perceived it as a racist act aimed at him.............this man was absolutely mentally ill and dangerous. Good thing he didn’t go into politics..........................

This interview was on our local radio yesterday - listen to the whole thing - I think you will find it interesting. She talks about getting rid of people such as the employee you have after the first discussion on hiring.

I partly blame the pansy metro-sexuals who worked with him and never kicked his ass for bullying and being violent. Damn the fall-out, he needed to be tuned up and there were no “men” willing to do it. It is a growing trend in our world.

No, you bunch of victim blamers, she wasn’t killed for anything she said or did. She was killed for the color of her skin. She was killed because Al Sharpton has been telling all the black racists to “kill whitey” for years. Is anyone surprised because some nut job listened to him?

Maybe he thought he could find a watermelon patch.

In 1978 I bought & cut up watermelon as a JR class (HS) fundraiser to be sold in the commons at lunch. You wouldn't believe how many black students came up to me and told me it was racist.

I can tell you that wasn't even a consideration at the time. BUT even since then then when I eat watermelon, guess what I think. Tell me...who really plants the seeds (pun intended) of racism?

Another reason why corporate America moved off shore was to get away from these secretive phoney baloney ‘human rights’ kangaroo courts that coddles negros with hurt feelings.

You touched on something there, that is I believe a MAJOR reason that companies choose to offshore.
