I tried to change my mother's mind for years. She was stuck in the FDR rut...and then oboy....a Catholic...
In the meantime, my dad sat me down and told me about the old bootlegger...

Ditto. The fact that the Dems were 100% pro-abortion, 100% pro-gay, and 100% pro-affirmative action - made no impact on my late father, a staunch Catholic and a staunch Democrat, who opposed ALL of those policies. To tell you the truth, I've never forgiven him for that. I thought he sold his soul to the devil because he was a life-long federal employee. In many ways, he was a very moral, conservative, person, who was even offended by the bed-hopping of the Seinfeld show. But, in the end, the Dems bought him.

I had fourteen aunts and uncles.
One was a died in the wool Lutheran and the rest die hard Baptists.
All very christian folks.
Every last one a commited Democrat.
I tried for years to talk sense to them, to show what the democrat party had become. Not one would listen.
I finally gave up.
It caused a family scandal when I “came out” as a conservative Republican.
Half the family wouldn’t speak to me for a couple years.
FDR ruined three generations of voters.
