It appears to be ending right now, except for Antarctica, where the ice is still growing rapidly.

It obviously started when the volcanic activity of the Genesis judgement began. It takes significantly warm water to produce that level of precipitation.

James Nienhuis would be the best source of info.

What caused the Ice Age?
