PRINCETON, N.J. -- The American public estimates on average that 23% of Americans are gay or lesbian, little changed from Americans' 25% estimate in 2011, and only slightly higher than separate 2002 estimates of the gay and lesbian population. These estimates are many times higher than the 3.8% of the adult population who identified themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender in Gallup Daily tracking in the first four months of this year.

Probably this figure gets inflated in people’s minds because they wrongly (in most cases) suspect the following all-too-prevalent demographics to be either lesbian or gay:
Ugly feminists
Male friends of feminists
Metrosexual males
Unisex-fashion females

There’s a very good chance this is bogus, to advance the idea it’s 3.8%, and not get negative feed back.
Traditional estimates have hovered around 2% when I’ve seen it addressed before.
What better way to reduce resistance by declaring most folks think it’s 25%, only to reveal 3.8%?
I remain unconvinced it’s 3.8%.
It’s not the populace that has a huge number of gay/lesbian/etc. It’s our government.

Just flew back from San Fran and that town gives me the Willies! 3.8% is an underestimation of the queers is that town. I’m thinking 30% there that makes up for the many towns that have 0.00001%. SHEESH!
I always thought my category was never used as a demographic statistic. What pigeon hole do they put me? I am physically male. However I feel that I am a lesbian trapped in a male body. I have a passionate attraction toward women but feel that I am a person without an identity.
Not just media, though that is a big part of it.
As a group they are VERY POLITICALLY ACTIVE and as a protected species they are pretty much untouchable now days.
Every body from the press, to politicians, to judges, are terrified of being labeled some type of PHOBE.
I, on the other hand am proud of being ANTI; phobe suggests fear, and the last time I was afraid of somebodies opinion of me was with my mother and father and their both gone many years ago.

Agreed. I'm sick of these people identifying themselves by their sexual preference. I don't give one frig who you sleep with. It's become obvious that you live your lives by your sexual identity. You are sad people.
The “American People” have NEVER fallen for the fake numbers. When the guesses first began, the number was estimated between 1-2%. The homosexual nut jobs took that number and turned it into 10% and kept running...
The real number is closer to the 1%.... 1% of the American population who have chosen to give in to their sin and reject God’s design (and many then call God evil in saying He made them that way).

How do they exert so much pressure? Why do they have so much political power?
Now that the homosexual irrationally high and wrong numbers are accepted because of media, we are now seeing the second wave of propaganda. . .the irrationally high and wrong numbers of interracial couples and the mixed-race child.
They are featured now in almost every commercial, and most certainly in all shows and movies, one would think the number of interracial couples numbers about 30-50% of all couples. Same with mixed-race children. . .
Like most Americans, I resent having agendas forced upon me.
