Interesting. I honestly never considered the possibility of a Sanders 3rd party run. The political mad scientist in me would like to see how it would play out. Sanders is drawing far bigger crowds than Ralph Nader or other liberal independents of the past. I don’t believe he could win, but if Hillary is the Democratic nominee, Bernie just might pick off a deep blue state or three, especially in New England.

That, in and of itself, would be memorable. 1968 is the last time we saw a 3rd party candidate take any states, and before that I think it was in the 1940s, with Strom Thurmond running as the 3rd party candidate.

He might win Vermont running as an I for President, certainly nothing else.
