I don't think we had a viable choice not to go in to Iraq. We had essentially been at war with them since the end of the 1st Gulf War and saddam never lived up to the terms of the ceasefire and fired on coalition aircraft regularly. Don't forget Oil For Food or that saddam had been cooperating with al queda since the mid ninties.
Feel free to disagree but after the surge Iraq was relatively stable.

The US has no means to occupy or change a Muslim country; we just lost wars in two of them (Iraq & Afghanistan), and the outcome was inevitable. The last time Iraq was stable was when our former ally Saddam Hussein ruled it.
