It sounds like he’s going for an insanity defense.
To be an Islamist, a person must suspend all critical faculties. This is what the psychological world calls Cognitive Dissonance. The entire religion is myth/lies/and embellishment. So in a sense, all Muslims are insane, although not outside of the justice system.
