Harry Reid endorses Iran deal, boosts chances Congress won’t block it

Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid gave a forceful endorsement Sunday to the nuclear deal with Iran, a key boost that provides continued momentum for preventing Congress from blocking President Obama’s pact.

The Nevada Democrat said the deal, which lifts economic sanctions against the rogue nation for pledges to limit its nuclear program, is the “best way” to curtail Iran’s military ambitions, and he pledged to round up more support to thwart its opponents.

“I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure the deal stands,” he said in a telephone interview with The Washington Post from his home in Henderson, Nev., where he has been calling friends to tell them of his decision.

If Obama and Kerry go ahead with this TREATY, even though a majority of both houses of Congress are opposed, they own it completely.

I truly don't get this so-called deal. Even while negotiating, the Iranian dictators were still calling for the death of Israel and the Great Satan (USA)...and they still are! What am I missing?

I don't really believe that Obama or Kerry actually want Iran to blow up the ME and possibly later DC since they have children. So what is it? Their communist hippie beliefs that if we lay down our weapons, the World will follow? Or is it some misguided need for a legacy, or both?

What amazes me even more that after the conservatives put Repub majorities in the House and Senate, why they voted for the Cocker Amendment to give up their Constitutional directive to approve treaties by 2/3rds vote. Now, they need 2/3rds to over-ride Obama's awful "agreement".

I truly don't understand why anyone would make such a bad deal with the leading sponsor of terrorism, and why Reid, Nadler, and others would even think of voting for an agreement that enables a true enemy. Oh right, they did the same for the Clinton/Alldumb agreement with North Korea. Don't these hippies ever understand that the "bad guys" LIE?

Israel, please hit Iran before they get the Russian S-300? systems. Just do what you did in Iraq and Syria. Protect yourself and World opinion be damned. For the next year, you have NO support from the USA, due to our "Usurper-in-Chief".

Reid proves every day that he is first and foremost a Democrat first and an American second — if he even gets to that point. He like so many other Dems could care less about the Constitution.

"Don't these hippies ever understand that the "bad guys" LIE?"

Japan was "negotiating (lying)" about their expansionism while they were targeting Pearl Harbor. Of course, we all know about the Hitler/Chamberlain agreement.

To share and real world experience about hippie/peaceniks:
Although I was apolitical during the late 60's, I sometimes would get into conversations about self-defense with hippies.

I'd ask: "If you had a weapon on you and encountered a mugger (potential killer) with a weapon in a dark alley, would you lay down your weapon first in hopes he would follow?" Many hippie pacifists idiots said YES. I then pointed out that you may either die or be maimed for life. Most times, I would get blank stares; some times I would get that's OKAY because they didn't want to be violent. Think about that. These self-deluded morons still exist, and they teach our young in colleges.

That's what we're dealing here regarding Iran. We give them room to breathe and they will come over to Western civilization. Well, the Mullahs are the "muggers" and they will never learn until we put them in their graves.

If I weren't so old, I be volunteering for duty in Israel. I tried after 9/11, but was too old to re-enlist. I'm sick of these peaceniks who just talk and talk with the "bad guys" of the World. They all needed to be dead years ago.

1. Huge foreign policy success for Obama - to be taught in US schools for decades, on par with Nixon's "China" as Obama's enduring legacy (Iran's or Israel's actions notwithstanding)

More likely it means the U.S. Will be nuked around the time the next president is sworn in and Baraq is safely removed from the continent. There won't be a future for school kids to be taught anything.

Good analysis. If this "deal" passes, all Republicans are to blame as, because of congressional trickery, we cannot determine who voted for it versus those who voted against it because their "yes" vote wasn't needed ... all Republicans are to blame as the GOP is not functioning as an opposition party ... as a check on an out-of-control executive branch.

Much of the current US government problem is that the populace fears the government rather than the government fearing the people. Representatives who vote for this deal, and the GOPe leadership who already conspired to set up a process where Obama only needs 1/3 approval to prevail, need to fear hearing the sound of scaffolds being built outside their windows, and they don’t.

They will be happy to “own it.” Congress is less relevant with every passing day.

Most don’t require blackmail. They learn immediately on reaching Washington, if they did not already understand, that compliance with the rules will make them wealthy and keep them wealthy for life even if they lose their next election and bucking the system will leave them to live on their salaries and their own financial acumen along with strident opposition from the rest of their Party and no advancement in the Congress and heavily financed primary and maybe IRS opposition in their subsequent primaries.

I wonder how much pocket stuffing Soros has had to do to ensure Iran gets nukes?

Well, when the real Majority Leader of the Senate is for it, it is a done deal. This is all simply kabuki theater anyhow.

Why did we bother giving Chicken-Neck Bitch Mitch "control" of the Senate when he refuses to do anything to stop 0bama's treason anyway? He, his buddy Dork Corker, and other GOP capons are allowing the Senate treaty powers to be neutered. In this case the result might be nuclear war! How cowardly is that?

This should never have happened. I blame the Republicans because they could have easily stopped it in the first place. The Dems are evil anyhow so we expected of them. Now we can see the GOP Establishment is just as evil and just as guilty as Pirate-Eyed Harry and The Mob.

A pox on the wicked lot of them. One can only wish if it happens the first bomb is in Washington and the Senate is in session...

.

you can see the bruises on Harry’s face ... what about the other dozen or so that we don’t see on the rest of his body ?

moreover, knowing that Harry’s a “public figure” you can be sure that the facial bruises were carefully placed ...

.

Harry is like the Nevada senator in the film ‘Godfather’. He owes the mob big time for cleaning up his messy whorehouse adventure.

Congress now exists as an advisory body only.

Party like it's 49 BC

Interesting parallels pointed out in this article...
