Who could have seen this coming?
Just a little over a week after a powerful explosion killed 114 and injured more than 700 in the Chinese port of Tianjin, it appears as though a second blast has occurred at a chemical warehouse, this time in China's eastern Shandong province. A residential area is reportedly located just 1 km away.

No, they do not. When I was in China in 1991 I saw a continuous flow of insane safety violations that you wouldn't think intelligent people would come even close to doing. China is a "hold my beer alert" place even when they are sober.
I saw a guy on top of a straight forty foot ladder putting in light bulbs with the ladder being supported by six guys. They would just carry the ladder, man still at the top, between light fixtures. They would extend a ladder from the top landing of a stair case with a guy sitting on the free end, and just pile enough guys on the other end of the ladder to keep the worker in place. There are so many stories...
“Maybe now, they just arent so open about who really owns what.”

UZBEKS!!!
I wonder if China has anything like OSHA...
*Though OSHA is an overbearing, over regulating federal agency, they do a pretty good job of holding companies to good safety policies...*
I have to politely disagree. They don’t do anything but collect fines. They don’t care one wit about safety. In fact, they love the unsafe companies, because they know they will get paid every couple of years.
Don’t believe me, Google VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula,Ms. They get fined all the time for people being injured and killed and even the fines they pay are ridiculous. The company pays the fine and they go right back to doing unsafe crap.
OSHA is s joke.
Love that movie!

No, I don't ...
One company interaction with OSHA is not indicative of the whole agency...
I've dealt with OSHA for about 20 years...probably been though about 15-20 walk through inspections....
Most if not all inspectors were very helpful in pointing out potential minor safety infractions and regulations a manager could not possibly able to keep up with...
Sure some of their rules and fines are ridiculous, but if a company and a manager cares about the safety of their employees, building and workplace, they take their recommendations to heart.
As a manager I have never been fined by OSHA, even when the inspectors found a couple of violations that could have run into the 10,000 of dollars.
They gave me a time period to address them and do a re-visit, which we fixed...
The company pays the fine and they go right back to doing unsafe crap.
Well, OSHA isn't going to have a inspector there 24/7, at some point they will go out of business by being sued, fined or from employee turnover...
I know my life or safety isn't worth any job...
I won't work for a company that disregards the safety of their employees...
Soros?
Nothing you’ve said changes anything I said. Sure OSHA points out infractions, and they give you a length of time to fix them, but they don’t care about people or accidents.
Case in point: major crane accident last yr. The fined them $29,000.00. Environmental problems, aka painting and sand blasting in an un-confined area, over $400,000.00 fine. Yes they gave them until January to correct the problems that caused the crane accident, which they have not done. OSHA has been there since then, and has done nothing. Now the company just got a grant to build a huge warehouse to paint the ships in, paid for by Mississippi taxpayers.
OSHA is a damn joke.
SOMETHING IS GOING ON FOLKS.
