A plane crashed and caused several casualties at an airshow in Brighton, on England's south coast, emergency services said Saturday.
The aircraft hit several cars on a main road, the A27, to the north of Shoreham airport, where the Shoreham Air Show is taking place, police said. It happened at around 1:20 p.m. local time (8:20 a.m. ET).
"There have been several casualties but we have no further information on these at the moment," Sussex Police said in a statement.

Horrible tragedy.
Prayers for the folks.
Sad. Either loss of power or just pilot error.
WoW !! Too much gravity. and the road looked like it was packed!
2 seat trainer version of the 1950s British Hawker Hunter fighter. The pilot was pulled from the wreckage alive. the story states: “Sussex Police said there were several casualties after the jet came down but it was not known how many people were injured or how seriously they were hurt.”

A few years ago a Marine jet also pancaked doing the same maneuver at an air show..there’s video somewhere
High speed stall. Unable to pull out of loop. Very sad.
Looks like pilot error to me, seemed to hold the
dive vertical a bit too long.
Right on the highway too, got to be more fatalities.

Thanks....looks like they both cut it too close altitude-wise, in order to give the spectators a good show..
Poor bastards never had a chance.
Yup. The difference between a good show and an “Oh crap!!” moment is time, altitude, power, inertia (energy) and gravity. Mess up on any one of those and you get on youtube.
Gravity sucks.
Thanks for the ping and the links.
Of all the space around there, he had to crash on the highway. That sucks.
At the slow speed he had at the top he wouldn’t be pulling any G at all. More likely he didn’t hit his numbers, got slow and still tried to complete the maneuver. Not going to happen in an old aircraft like that.
Update: West Sussex Police said seven died and one patient with life-threatening injuries was taken to the hospital. A further 14 people were treated for minor injuries.
