Scott Walker recants opposition to birthright citizenship (We have found a waffler, aka Jeb Bush)

After telling an NBC reporter unambiguously that he supported ending birthright citizenship, Scott Walker on Friday changed his mind, saying his new position is that he has no position, that he is now undecided again. He's saying that this isn't a reversal, merely that he misspoke because he was tired.

How do you misspeak support for ending birthright citizenship? Look at this video where he is clearly asked whether he would end it, and Walker says, "Yeah, absolutely." No ambiguity there. This is not a minor, technical issue. This is not a slip of the tongue. Scott Walker was clearly saying last week that he supported ending the mechanism that creates anchor babies. Now he's changed his mind. Here's his position on the issue for August 21st:

“I’m not taking a position one way or the other,” Walker said in an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood. “I’m saying that until you secure the border and enforce the laws, any discussion about anything else is really looking past the very things we have to do.”

not ready for big leagues and I am so glad. He hasn’t been able to fake his donor’s positions.

Reading Wife’s spin on this will be fun.

Walker has always supported amnesty and been soft on illegals. Go back to when was a county executive and see what he voted for.

I think he does whatever is politically expedient. He is this year’s version of Romney with even less charisma.

He never did a thing for me. Not that he hasn’t been a good governor.

I bet Trump gets more of the legal Spanish vote than any other Republican has and maybe more than the Democrat. The legals are CITIZENS and are affected adversely by the influx of the illegals just as other citizens are and they know that. The illegals’ votes of course will go 100% to the Democrat.

Give Walker a break. It takes extraordinary skill for his GOPe big money handlers pulling his strings to keep in time with the latest Trump declaration.

A few months back, I was leaning toward Walker. But he lacks clarity. I think an absence of clarity usually indicates an absence of honesty, an attempt to hide discrepancies and contradictions.
Like the old saying goes, would you buy a used car from this man? With Walker, at this point, I wouldn’t be sure of the color and the number of wheels.

This is why Walker has no credibility on the most important issue facing this nation. He needs GOPe money. Big money owns Walker and the big money likes illegals. Simple as that.

The problem is with the way the constitutional provision on birthright is being interpreted. I heard two local talk show hosts both of which are highly influential (Walker or his staff listen to these people) disagree with what Levin said it actually is. Which by the way I totally agree with Levin. Even Cruz has had problems with it.

What that NBC interviewer could have followed up with was this question; Do you believe foreigners and illegals can dump their mates off here have a kid and it becomes a citizen ? To which he would have answered hell no.

There is no doubt in my mind, Walker would never consider supportimg any such a thing as allowing foreigners or illegals dump their pregnant wives off here have a kid here and claim it’s a citizen of this country.

I had high hopes for Walker, but he has turned out to be a big disappointment so far.

Me too.

I started out as a Walker guy.

I was behind Trump when he considered running in 2012, and came on board for trump when he announced this time.

Just another GOP establishment candidate or establishment wanna be.

I heard him in an interview down here in Houston, Texas radio station, Michael Barry Show, and he took a position on illegal immigration that seemed pretty conservative.

A day or so later, I read in an article during a rally up in yankee land, he took a position that was pretty liberal regarding illegal immigration.

One was they had to go, the other an ultimate path to citizenship.

Crossed off the ol Servantboy’z list.

I would agree. He seems to me to be a little intellectually soft. Good Governor but has he has risen to his level of competency.

How this guy ever got put up for President is beyond me. He has absolutely nothing to offer the country in the way of leadership, or new ideas. This is also the reason he is fast fading in the polls.
