That’s an interesting article.
Of course, it could all be a
lot of hooey, but it helps to
organize the candidate pack
in one’s mind, for now.

All this calculus could easily be perturbed if someone like Trump were to choose a VP candidate such as Condoleezza Rice.

Rubios goal is to split Florida and help Jeb win the 99 winner-take-all electoral votes by blocking a more conservative option.
If Bush couldn't beat a "more conservative option" in Florida, he wouldn't get the nomination. Rubio, as an established Florida pol with a long career in state politics, diverts more support and money from John Ellis Bush than from any of the other candidates. rubio also would be hard for John Ellis Bush to have as a VP, as both are associated with Florida. I don't know if John Ellis Bush has changed his legal address from Florida, but Senator Rubio cannot do it if he wants to stay a Senator during the campaign. Having the top of the ticket change the home address is a much bigger deal than having a VP not holding office (Cheney, who had nona fide connections with Wyoming) do it.

Why would a one-term young senator with no accumulated wealth give up his seat in the Senate for a long-shot White House bid?
Ask President Obama.

I think they got it right. I intend to do some studying at the source. Good catch, thanks for posting this.

Barbours presence in the Perry camp made his affiliation transparent.
The GOPe may be a multi-0headed monster with numerous heads. I am doubtful taht Perry went into 2012 in order to be a stooge for Romney. Barbour may favor southern GOPe over northern GOPe. Perry knows he had a bona fide shot last time and blew it. He hoped for a second chance, and it isn't gonna happen. He may also be auditioning for a cabinet post.

Condi won’t accept. She’s out of politics and happy to be so now.

He has never fully or publicly apologized for his role against Chris McDaniel
Since McConnell is campaigning with Cruz, I suspect they worked things out.

The Rubio explanation makes no sense.
For one thing, you can’t have two Floridians on the same ticket.
For another, they compete for the same Establishment voters, despite their handlers’ attempts to cast Rubio as a “conservative alternative”.
Also, I don’t see why Santorum and Carson are any less Establishment-blessed conservative-vote splitters than the others. Carson, along with Fiorina, of course, also serves duty to show how “diverse” the GOP is—right up until they name another white male nominee.
To: Whenifhow
Also, there is no forgetting when push comes to shove, Cruz is on the Establishment team. E.g., Cruz voted for the Corker bill that means Obama is going to get his Iran deal through the Senate (and then Cruz rails and rails against Obama’s Iran deal).
To: 9YearLurker
And the same for Rand Paul. He also voted for the Corker deal that meant that Obama could get his Iran deal with 1/3 of the Senate’s approval (a certainty), rather than the 2/3rds that would have been problematic—as with the new trade agreements.
The GOP is one big fraud.
To: Dr. Sivana
No, Obama only served half of his Senate term—his seat wasn’t nearly up—nothing risked.

I’m sorry, I meant to say McDaniel with Cruz, not McConnell. Cruz is calling McConnell a liar at all of the campaign stops. If he made an error in judgment earlier, I am willing to absolve him as he has made a good penance.

sure but if her being out of politics was the one thing that could change to prevent a hitlary presidency, i would wonder if she would change her mind at that point.

Ted Cruz. No single decision was more disappointing than for Ted Cruz to join with Rand Paul and align with Mitch McConnell in the spring of 14. As Vice-Chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC)...... ........My hunch is Cruz really regrets that decision. However, he remained on the NRSC until after the mid-terms were over, and didnt leave until January of 2015.
......Ted Cruz laid down with dirty dog McConnell, albeit temporarily, and woke up months later covered in fleas.
Ted Cruz has fought a good fight since that decision, but he essentially made himself ineffective within DC after that spring primary season.
OUCH.
