As Donald Trump continues to dominate the news, many of his supporters aren’t aware of something very interesting about the Presidential candidate. His oldest sister is a senior judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Maryanne Trump Barry was nominated as a Federal District Judge by President Reagan in 1983. Bill Clinton then appointed her to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1999.

I already knew that. What does it matter? Seems like a very intelligent family.

Did the Clinton Foundation even exist in 1999 when she was appointed? I don’t think so.

An article about one of her rulings was posted here in 2006. A strange case in which she said she had no choice but to deport some kind of Irish terrorist family but said they were great people and she wished they could stay...

She said that Malachy McAllister's conviction for conspiracy to murder an RUC officer was part of an 800-year-old struggle by the Irish people against British oppression and that he could not possibly be considered a threat to US national security. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1615140/posts

Interesting. I had heard of her before, as simply Maryanne Barry ... her name is very similar to that of the notorious former mayor of Washington, DC.

Probably not.

I know nothing about her and haven’t done any research on her so I won’t say anything one way or the other. That said the Reagan appointees have been a real mixed bag over the years.

The federal appeals court judge who ruled in favor of gay marriage in Michigan before it went to the supreme court this last time was a Reagan appointee.

Thanks. I was fairly certain that it wasn’t started while he was still in office.

Looks like the real graft & corruption didn’t start gushing in until the potential arose for Hillary to become POTUS.

I knew this, but appreciate learning a little more about her. With the anchor baby issue—and Trump actually on the more informed side of the debate—this is indeed interesting.

Well, he’s not either. Not sure what that has to do with this discussion.

You’re for Ted Cruz. The two have a non-aggression pact it seems. We should also.

Excellent point. I like both men and would vote for either one. There is too much at stake for petty squabbles between freepers.
