NEW LONDON, N.H. Jeb Bush invoked the names of two rivals for the Republican presidential nomination as he waded into the debate over birthright citizenship and immigration on Thursday, saying that Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida might not be able to run for president if some in the conservative wing of the Republican Party had their way.
In response to a question at a restaurant here Thursday about the 14th Amendment, which allows children born in the United States to become citizens regardless of the legal status of their parents, Mr. Bush said, The courts have ruled that its part of the 14th Amendment of our Constitution, and my belief is that it ought to stay that way, that this is part of our noble heritage.
Then Mr. Bush mentioned both Mr. Rubio, whose parents immigrated to the United States from Cuba, and Mr. Cruz, who was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban-born father, to buttress his point.
Now, if people are here legally, they have a visa, and they have a child whos born here, I think that they ought to be American citizens, he said. People like Marco Rubio, by the way, thats how he came. You know, so to suggest that we make it impossible for a talented person like that not to be a candidate for president or Ted Cruz. I mean, I think were getting a little overboard here, and were listening to the emotion rather than to the reality of this.
Mr. Bush appeared to be conflating criticism of Mr. Rubio, who has said he is open to ending birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to foreign parents, with early questions about whether Mr. Cruz was qualified to run....

Or it’s his strategery. :)
And if you look at HIS family, Jeb Bush knows better!
Jeb is such a loser.
Do you ever wonder why the USA has been going to hxll in a handbasket?
No successful corporation can have a BOD with lack of loyalty and of corporate patriotism, as do many of our American leaders.
We have too many in leadership positions with outright conflicts of interest, multiple citizenships, and representing other countries of birth.
America was once led only by those with an American legacy. Now I’m not sure where they all come from, but the decisions demonstrate they do not serve America. No American holding major office should have ties to any other country.
Jeb is just trying to confuse the issue. I will repeat. This man is not smart enough to be my president.
I heard Jeb’s ramblings. Sounded weak, lame, uncertain and delivered to an unusually quiet room to unemotional, scattered applause.
Jeb is pathetic.
Yebbie can spin the nonsense all he wants, the issue is now at the forefront and being discussed across America. There is no legal birthright citizenship for children of illegible aliens.
There's not a lick of evidence that the Supreme Court has ever ruled regarding citizenship for children of illegals. There was a court ruling in the late 1800s that children of legal immigrants must be considered citizens.
actually its pronounced John Ellis Bush...J E B...
:)
FYI: Gov.George Romney (Mitt’s dad) was born in Mexico to two U.S.citizens.
Mexico only recognizes jus sanguinis (by the blood); if a child is born in Mexico, he/she inherits the parent’s nationality. In the above case, that makes Mitt Romney, born in Michigan to two U.S. citizens, a U.S.citizen.
Mitt Romney did not have Mexican parents. Mexican government representatives have said in the past, wherever Mexicans live, Mexico exists.
The Liberals (in either party) want it both ways (but, don’t point THAT out to ‘em):
LOUDLY:
‘We should emulate XYZ for their Welfare State’
‘We should emulate XYZ for their Healthcare’
CRICKETS:
‘We SHOULDN’T emulate XYZ for their immigration laws’
‘We SHOULDN’T emulate XYZ for their voting laws’
Which, to anyone with any critical thinking, show these people to only want a down-trodden/weak USA.
