“I have made a lot of great deals,” he said. “I don’t sit down and say, ‘I will mark down 14 points’. … When you do 14 points, you know the second point may change.”

Trump knows negotiating 101. I’ve done commercial real estate and business startups the last 35 years and I understand Trump’s method. Trump is apparently a fanatic about reading contracts, which is impressive. While we might not like all of Trump’s positions, he would get things done. If we keep the house and senate, that might not be so bad.

I’m still for Cruz, but it may take 4 years of Trump to break the GOPe.

I’ve been doing deals for 30 years as well, primarily as an investment banker and also CFO for a few companies. Trump strikes me as knowing a great deal about business arrangements and explains that knowledge w/o sounding pedantic. Reagan was also a good businessman and negotiator - remember when he walked away from Gorbachev at Reykjavik? The media were apoplectic with him saying he was going to start WWIII. Gorby eventually came back to the table with a deal Reagan wanted. He also bluffed them into national disintegration with his threat of SDI - just talking about it put the Soviet Union into a tailspin.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. This is the current task.
