I would give a break to employers who are duped into hiring one.

There is no reason why an employer should be "duped" into hiring an illegal unless they don't take the necessary steps to check status.

The anchor baby issue and the border security issues are by far the most important, I don't think Trump would disagree, I also think he's pragmatic enough to figure the other problem(s) out and implement them as far as they can go.

Any of these plans, and Trump's is the one were talking about, will have huge issues in implementation. What I like about Trump, and why I am softening on him, is he seems to be the only one (maybe Cruz can) who will be able to overcome the nannygoat whiners (I'll call them democrats and the self hanging COC types) who will try to control the narrative and destroy the attempt to solve this issue. One thing, I do believe he wants to actually solve this and will go for it, mostly in ways we will really like. I like that. A lot.

Btw, I like your holding fast on free trade down thread, you're doing a stellar job with a rough crowd.

Gotta go, have a good one, I'll check for any response later today.

"The Japanese car invasion made the big three get off their asses and produce far better cars at far better prices. Now they are more competitive world wide due to being forced to get better."

And the Japanese managed to do this while keeping American cars out of Japan by using non-tariff barriers. This was all discussed thoroughly by Reagan's trade negotiator Clyde Prestowitz in his book Trading Places. Free trade is and was of little interest to Japan. They employed a strategic export model as have their many imitators

For some reason Free Traitors™ are in denial about how ever other country abuses us thru trade. It is the most astounding thing that. Cognitive dissonance.

I think it’s more of a case that they are wedded to an idealized model of David Ricardo’s ideas of international trade. And they simply haven’t or won’t read studies that illustrate how trade is being gamed and used as a strategic national policy by our competitors.

Japan targets high value added industries to cultivate, they don’t rely on the vagaries of the market. They subsidize exports to drive out American competition and then use economies of scale achieved by access to the huge American market to keep American firms from reentering the field. Through a variety of non-tariff barriers they severely restrict access to the Japanese market, keeping it as a safe and guaranteed haven for Japanese firms. Korea and China use a variation of this export model. They see their home market as a national asset and high value employment for the citizens to be a national goal.

True. But if he can prove dupage, I’d give him leniency.

So the below is a quote from this article, showing what he says Trump's version of amnesty would be. What makes this so different from even the amnesty plans of the more liberal GOPe candidates?

Basically, Trump's done a great job selling amnesty to his fans by choosing his words carefully to sound harsher. "Deport" doesn't mean much though if they're deported through a revolving door. A lot of these illegals already travel back and forth between here and their home country anyway.

The end result in terms of what currently illegal immigrants get to change their status to stay in this country looks like it will be the same as Jeb's or most other candidates' plans. If you don't care about that and don't believe any other plan works, then fine. But why get so excited about Trump and act like he's so different from the other candidates?

Announcing that illegal immigrants with clean records have the opportunity to earn a green card-lite -- essentially an updated and improved version of the Bracero Program -- would evoke a massive response. No effort at all would be necessary to search for people, arrest them, and conduct hearings. They would be eager to come forward and fill out the paperwork for the expedited formalities. They could at last “come out of the shadows” and be able to bargain for wages on the same basis as the rest of the workforce. Once the first wave of illegals successfully re-entered the United States legally, nearly everyone eligible for the program would want to participate.
