Saw them live three or four times back in the late 70’s, early 80’s. First time was in the Ummagumma era. First LP was Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Was only 15 when it came out. Quite a revelation. They were at their very best pre Darkside. World class music, world class Asshat politics.
Any suggestions as to who is making similar music today?

There is no comparison today. Most of today’s music is canned crap to get the most sales possible. Talent is severely lacking and it’s all about looks not music.

I've kind of thought Muse might be an up and comer. Went and saw them a couple of years ago and they had a great show. Sounded like a cross between U2 and Floyd. They've been kind of quiet since then, and are subject to getting their most popular songs over-played, but they're worth keeping an eye on.
Some find them a bit over-dramatic, but I like it.
